Is LSD all that hot? And can you buy kits for replacing your stock differential?

Ok I'm gonna be rebuilding my tranny pretty soon. Luckily my neighbor used to work on eclipses and got 20 years experience as a mechanic, so it should be all good.

Now The stock differential is not limited slip, but what advantage does LSD give? Seriously? And do they sell kits to replace your stock one with an LSD for a FWD?

Hey you should check this out. I am going to be putting this into my gs-t. Seems to be very good for the money from what people have told me. Think it should be good for up to like 350 h/p. I am a newbie also, but have been researching this one. Should get less torque steer and much better corning with it from what i've read. It's also only $200 which is very nice.

Those SBR LSDs are only good for straight-line driving/racing (aka cars that see a lot of quarter-mile passes). There are several reasons why Quaife LSDs cost about $1000 and Extreme PSI and SBR LSDs cost about $200.

Yes there definately is, but for 200 those are a good investment. If you have the 1100 for a Quaife lsd than definately go for it, but if your short on money(like me) i would suggest going with the sbr or simular lsd insert. From what i've read the cornering is also much better with those compared with without any.

THe images on that website don't look nothing like a differential... wtF?

It's an lsd insert not a "true" lsd. It does work very well by itself, but wont get as good performance out of it as you would with a Quaife lsd. But for $200 it is a good purchase i beleive. There are some other threads on here that talk about it. I learned a bit from them. You will definately see better launch times with it, much less torque steer and better cornering as well. I live in the nartheast and my gst is my daily driver so is better for snow conditions as well. One of my friends got it and said it is awesome.

I have heard good things about slowboy one too. I have ot say though if you do go cheap route and not get lsd get the slowboy one. A buddy of mine bought them off i think MackV or im not sure, but naywase tore his tranny up.

I installed the lsd insert in mine myself and I love it. I wish I had the cash for the full blown quafe but I dont. Anyway I very highly recommend it. Helped hook up both tires, improved launch, helped eliminate torque steer and definetly improved fun factor. I also run Eibach Sportlines kyb agx's and solid motor mounts. The insert I got was B&M there is also Phantom Grip.
