Hi All
I have a weird problem that i need your help. My car start to lose power if i keep the engine running at 3000 rpm or above on the highway. But when i put the gear back to neutral and wait for the rpm to go back to it idle stage and shift in whatever gear it suppose to be i have the power back. The problem happens when i keep it constant at 3k rpm i start to experience power lost. If i accelerate the car it won't have power lost as much as when i keep it constant at 3krpm. To me i think the problem due to either the fuel pump is going bad or my cat clog.

Thank You Very Much

Another solution that i came up is to buy an SAFC and hook it up but not sure it will help or not

Hmm I'm not sure what to make of that offhand, but a quick question, do you, or can you get a logger? And we can see what everything looks like at those times.. It might help, i'm not sure.
I doubt an SAFC is going to help..
Do you have any mods? Have you done anything recently? Does it have a good tune up?

I just got all the mods done so i'd updated my profile sorry about that

-It has a check engine light on, which i can go to Checkers, or autozone for them to check it out.
mods
3" exhaust system with cat.
evo 3 16g
stock fuel system

Talking about fuel system i think i need to replace the fuel filter it might be dirty.

Thanks for the reply buddy

No problem. I'd recommend going to advanced auto and having them read your CEL, or picking up a logger. Is that coinciding with this problem?
If you haven't replace the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs. Check the wires for resistance and deteriorations.. Basic tune up..
Do you have a boost gauge and controller with the e316g? If so, what's it set at?
I don't know.. No one else has stepped in here to help you out so i figured i'd give it my best..
Good luck!

I haven't done the basic tune up yeap. Thinking of doing it Monday after work
Yes i have a boost gauge and controller and i set the boost level at 10psi (play safe :)

Today i went to Checkers and they scaned my vehicle. I got two codes
Trouble Codes:
1. P0300 Random /multiple cylinder misfire detected. Same as the Chilton book
2. P1104 Manufaturer Specifiec Powertrain Code. In the Chilton book this code means Turbo charger wastegate solenoid malfunction.

Pending Codes:
P1104 Manufacturer Specific Powertrain code

Freeze codes:
P0300 Random/ Multiple cylinder misfire detected

I changed the spark plugs and wires a few minutes ago. what am i supoose to do? :confused:

Did you check the gap on the spark plugs?

This is what your shop manual says to check
Ignition coil;
Ignition power transistor;
Spark plug;
Ignition circuit;
Injector;
O2 sensor;
Compression pressure;
Timing belt;
Crankshaft position sensor;
Air intake;
Fuel pressure; and
Crankshaft position sensor circuit and connector.

Searching for "misfire" should yeild you some good results..
Heres some good links

Thanks Alot for the help buddy. These links are great help. I changed the wires and plugs and will perform more tests.

No Problem! Let us know after you check out that stuff, if you still can't figure it out. Or what it was!
good luck!

Another thing i forgot to mention is whenever the misfire starts to happen my A/F jumps up like crazy(looking at my apexi TT). Normal driving around 14 to 15ish

I think (hope) my misfire problem is solved. I changed the PCV rubber tube, drove the car this morning and the it ran fine without losing power at 3k + rpm

Thank you Very much for you help

It didn't help. The same nightmare is haunting me again. I still experience the same power lost at 3k rpm and above:mad: :mad:

while I have a 98 and you have a 95, meaning our CAS' are different, it's possible yours has gone bad. As I suspect mine has.
whenever I maintain or hover around 3krpm on the highway I get a CEL and the car looses all power and runs choppy (misfiring cylinders).
Same code, P0300.

My problem vanished 3 weeks ago, I had had it for at least 8 months now, only to find that it returned on my way to school this morning.:notgood:

Did you repair your wastegate solenoid yet?
Have you checked your plug gaps yet? What plugs did you use?

Fix the obvious first, the CELs and your plugs.

Thanks for the reply. I replaced my spark plugs and wires about 1 week ago. I used NGK something 6. i gapped the plugs at .028 exact.

my questions to you
-What did you do to make the problem gone for 3 weeks?
-How does the wastegate solenoid cause/effect the misfire ?

THank You for the reply

Does anyone else have any solutions to this problem? The only thing that i am afraid to change is the 1g CAS any helps :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:
