hello everyone, ive tried searching but due to the somewhat emergency type state of my car, i gotta post this with my specific problems.

I dropped my car off to have my cat+catback system put on at a shop. as well as replace the crankcase seal and make sure the timing was on.

well, i get there after its done to realize the car runs like balls... the mechanic said nearly everything in the engine was loose, so he tightend it all down and said the timing was off by 1 on the oil pump, so he corrected that.

anyway. i have an SAFC2, and the car had a slight idle surge before it warmed up BEFORE i took it to the shop. he said he started messin around with the SAFC2 (not knowing what he was doing!!) anyway, now when i start the car, it idles anywhere from 700-1000 and the car is almost jolting back and forth, as well as the CEL coming on.

Inside the engine bay, it sounds like the fuel rail or something is making some sort of almost ticking noise.

my question, is this a result of messing with the SAFC2, or something else that this clown mustve done?
 
Its probably from the guy messing with the S-AFC II, I would set it back to what you had it at.

see if the SAFC is still set on karman and not pressure. And lock for SAFCII next time you take your car anywhere to be serviced. For some reason technicians love playing with them :rolleyes:
 
Geez, whatever you do, don't take it back to that guy again! Your car is supposed to run better than it did before when you pay someone to do something, not worse! Have you checked your valve timing since he "fixed" it? This guy isn't exactly in the running for Mechanic of the Year, so I would second-guess everything he touched.

As for the CEL, you can take it to any auto parts store to have it pulled-- that will probably point you in the right direction.
