Use it as a DD and save your money for a turbo car. Try searching the classifieds there are some nice cars in there.

Agreed, you can get a decent well running 1g for 3k. Go ahead and try to do the swap but you will just ruin a perfectly good daily driver and end up kicking yourself in the ass for not buying a turbo car in the first place. I promise.

I would say do all the maintenance religiously, and you will have a great little DD, and the insurance will be lower since its N/T'd. Here are some links that will help you out with everything you might need. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=239375 http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233421 http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/compression.htm http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/leakdown.htm, here is a great site>>>http://www.vfaq.com/, go take a look around in there, and have fun reading, you will learn a lot. Yes, I know the first one is a maintenance schedule, be Dee has some great things in there, I would do the Every 3000 miles or 3 months section, and the Every 15000 miles or 12 months section and with this section refer back to the spark plug FAQ I posted as well. I would follow the rest of the page as well. If you do all this preventative maintenance you will have a great DD. Also make sure your stock heat shields are in place, one should be on the exhaust manifold, and the other should be below that one on the o2 housing. Also pressure check the coolant system, go to a garage and ask them to do this, its just a fitting that screws into the rad. cap spot, and a manual pump, with a guage on it, they will pump air into it to check and see how much pressure the system can handle, and if it will leak when pressure is put through it, you may want to be present for this test, because you may find it interesting, and also we dont want anyone scamming you saying you have to buy, this, this, this, and this. Also I for one dont think you should go buy a turbo'd DSM, the amount that you will learn from doing an engine swap is invaluable, I think you should do the swap, but get someone that I a little more mechaniclly inclinde then yourself, to go, and make sure the engine you are getting is in good working order. If the engine is still all together, I would ask how it came to be there? Like what the car in an acciden, or did the engine blow up. Also if its still together, I would pull the head off and inspect the pistons, and check for the obvious stuff like anything broken. Also I would get a tranny from a turbo'd 1G DSM of the same year as your DSM. Also what do you play to do to it after you get it? Stick with the 14B or upgrade a little? IMy advise would be stick with the 14B for a little while so you can get the feel of having a turbo'd car, and when/if you decide to mod it follow this>>>http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=1gtstage1power
Hope this helps, if you need anything else you can PM me
