I installed my Hallman ES manual boost controller this morning. I am using the turbo elbow nipple (1st gen turbo elbow to side mount peice) and the wastegate nipple. I have it installed the correct way per the intructions and the various faqs that I've looked at trying to solve the issue. The issue is that before running boost control through the stock BCS I was hitting 10psi . Now I am hitting 9psi, and there is no change when backing out the knob or tightening the knob. I have removed all of the BCS hoses and the BCS is still in the car with the electrical connection attached. I had no boost leaks before the install and checking now after have no reason to believe that I have any either. All mods are listed in profile. Any input into the situation would be appreaciated, as I am scratching my head at this point.

It sounds to me like air is somehow getting around the MBC and to the wastegate, so your wastegate is opening at its stock boost level. Your BCS had it set at 10 PSI, so obviously your BCS was holding a little boost. Your vac lines aren't going into the BCS at all, right? Your lines should run from the positive pressure source in the turbo system to the MBC to the wastgate nipple. I'm not sure waht you mean by the "turbo elbow". The 2g 16g install kit I've seen had a nipple on the LICP. Is this where yours is? It should be in some place where positive pressure is flowing into the MBC. If it is, then it could be your MBC. The MBC should have a spring in it that is compressed under boost and will be compressed far enough at a specified boost level to allow pressurized air into the wastegate and open the wastegate spring. Is the air flowing like this? If it is, and the MBC still doesn't work, see if the MBC itself is holding boost. You could disconnect it from the car and try and pump air through it with a bicycle pump and turn the knob to see if it holds boost. Let us know.

No Lines are going into the BCS at all. The BCS's nipples are both capped off.

Im using a stock 1g peice with the stock LICP, this peice is essentially a cheap J pipe( I had it laying around) used with the stock LICP so I didnt have to buy anything. I am using the nipple off that peice for my positive pressure.

When I first got it I hooked one side up to a compressor and had the compressor at 20psi then the other to a boost gauge I had laying around and adjusted it to 15psi, So I believe that the MBC is working. I am at a loss right now.

A lot of times the first 5 turns of the adjustment knob will not do anything, try turning it CW more or just turn it all the way in and see if you get infinit boost.

:coy: oops. You were right. Thanks guys :thumb: . Feel free to close the thread. I feel like a dumbsh!t now. ROFL

Nah, we like to leave these open so you can come back and say stuff to yourself like "holy crap I was a dipshit!" No worries, it's a common mistake and I did the same thing when I got my first MBC. Don't feel bad in the least.
