Ok so my laser is about to sell on ebay and i just won a 95 gsx. I plan on having it by this weekend and maybe even taking it to the track. Wondering what kinda #'s i could hit? here are the mods.

RRE lightened flywheel. ACT 2100 clutch, MBC, K&N filter, test pipe, Buschur 2.5" cat-back, boost and A/f gauges. Belts, plugs, and o2 sensors are all new. Its a 5 speed with 120K on it.

What boost is it running?

Replace that 2g bov (that's what it looks like).

Any compression numbers? 120k miles is a bit.

Have you verified if it's an eprom ecu? That'd suck if they cashed it in for a 96+ ecu.

I couldn't accurately guess your 1/4 times even if I knew what boost you were running. Sorry. My inaccurate guess is mid-high 14s if you launch well at 12psi boost.

yeah shitty 2g bov, i may try to get the bov off of my laser though if it will bolt right up. I think its set at about 9 psi now dont know about the ecu but i dont think its been touched, car is pretty damn clean. and weve only got a 1/8th mile track here. what boost could i run on the 1g bov with those mods?

The 2g BOV leaks at around 13-14psi, but the 1g BOV will hold up to 22psi. Unfortunately, the 1g and 2g BOVs aren't directly swappable parts; the 1g BOV has a flange with 2 bolts connecting it to the UICP, and the 2g BOV has a tube and hose clamp. They have adapters so that you can put a 1g BOV on a 2g UICP, but you might want to consider upgrading your UICP anyway; the stock 2g UICP is mega-smashed where it has to squeeze by the stock filter box and fuse box. Since you already have an aftermarket filter, you can now fit an aftermarket UICP that facilitates a nice, smooth flow, and if you do choose to get one, they usually offer it with whatever BOV flange you want (usually Greddy-style, or 1g BOV-style). Take a look at the UICP on your car (runs up through the bodywork, runs under the fuse box, connects to the BOV, then clamps to a silicone "S-tube" that runs to the throttle body). If it's plastic and has a strange, restrictive cross-section just after it comes up through the sheet metal, it's the stock part. If it's a constant, circular cross section made of steel, it's already been upgraded. Another option is to use an Evo3 BOV; it connects to the UICP exactly like the 2g BOV, but it holds high boost as well. The nipple on the evo3 BOV comes off at a different angle, but at worst, that means you need to buy 3 feet of vaccuum line if the stock line won't reach.

The stock boost for a 2g is 11-ish psi. You can run up to 15psi on the stock T25. After that, it's pumping out some pretty hot air and would probably lead to knock and maybe heatsoaking your stock sidemount IC.

If you're planning on modding your car (of course you are!), get a logger. That'll tell you a lot that could keep your motor alive.

ok well guess ill just look to upgrade the pipe and get me a greddy. I got it for $5k alittle more than i wanted to pay but its super clean inside and out and its kinda close. GSX's are very rare around here and maybe 3 turbo dsm's in the town if that. Afew SRT-4's 1 Evo, and a couple of WRX's. By the way how does a gsx run against a srt-4? About what RPM is safe to launch the car?:dsm: None the less im very excited about my new car! You think i can hit a 9 in the 1/8th?

My buddy's 98 gst went 15.00 in the 1/4 (same mods t25 turbo w/ 1g bov) at bakersfield with a good launch. I'd guess high 14s just becuase i don't know how well you can launch it, shift it and of course that t25 and 2g bov won't help your time. I know 2g's look nice and clean, but after you experience CRANKWALK, you'll go back to a 1g, hell I did. and so did both of my buddies...now its all three of us driving 1g AWDs, nothing else.

Was your Laser AWD or FWD???

it was FWD auto, it ran but overheated dont know what was wrong with it. I only had $800 in it, it sold for $1025 interior is mint! i only gave $400 for it not running. And i actually like the way the 1g's look better but i wanted a 5 speed AWD, hopefully crankwalk wont happen if im lucky i guess.;)

No clue about an srt-4, but you could probably find more about it searching the forum.

I launch my car by flooring it and slipping the clutch at around 4k-4500rpm so that it boosts. Just adjust the clutch so that it holds that RPM until the clutch is fully engaged - throttle pegged the whole time. Kinda your typical 4-banger turbo launch - keep the revs high enough that the turbo spools, and then keep it there as you gradually send the power to the wheels. Practice makes perfect. The stock clutch slips if you do this at too high of an RPM, but your ACT 2100 should grab just fine.

From what I've read, if it hasn't walked by 140k, it ain't gonna. If it does, keep the nice looking 2g shell and drop a built 6 bolt in it.

Lets just hope he knows what he is doing if that ever happens...my first 6bolt swap on a 2g was a pain in the behind.
