1995 eclipse GSX shell with full leather interior in near mint condition, body has 98xxx miles on it, paint is still in good condition. New tires.. The only bad is the drive-line needs to be welded back on to the body. Came with the motor but 2 of the valves are bent and one of the pistions is roughed up. Due to the timing belt snaping
+What do you guys think about doing a repair? worth it or part it out.

What do you mean drive line has to be welded back onto the body? It should be a bolt on affair... unless it was a gst in the first place. In that case you got sold a gst not a gsx :p

Id say part it. You'll be big money on that.

Nope its a GSX, Some idiot tired to tow it like it was FWD and the bracket ripped from the body.. it came out clean so it can be welded back on

Please let me know how it came to be that the "driveline needs to be welded back to the body" ??

Depending on your answer, sounds like a good part-out candidate..

Either way 300 aint bad

It got ripped off because the tow truck lifted the front of the car and began to drive away, all the pressure snapped out the drive line out to release the pressure

I was typing as you replied above.

But, wow! OMG WTF  :(

On selling: I'd think you would disclose this little tidbit to the buyer, as it seems "relevant."

Personally, I'd feel slightly weird about buying a GSX that had been welded back together.

Keep it! Just my $0.00.

Looks to me like you got a sweet deal i would keep it, weld it, and drive the hell out of it. Whats the worst that could happen, you lose $300.

2nd that. Fix it, gut it, run the $hit out of it and have fun. Could be the cheapest fun you will ever have in a car!

i say keep it.. 6bolt the car... fix the weld.. and have FUN with a 10k car you picked up for 300 bucks.. if all else fails.. repair it throw a 7bolt in it.. sell it for 8k and make a 6k profit off of it.

What do you mean by driveline? Are you talking about the driveshaft or rear end? By bracket, I assume you mean the mounting points for the driveshaft. If so, I would reweld it back to the body and keep the car All that holds the driveshaft support mounts to the body it just a few spot welds so ripping them from the floorpan doesnt take that much effort. After it is all said and done, you could have a decent awd platform to mod and have fun with. Even if the trnny has to be replace, you could still get away with $1k or so invested for an awd. If you part it out, you wont be able to get as much as people seem to think unless you just find some idiots to pay primo price for parts. Remember, most dsmers are cheap lowballer and the parts are only worth what us cheap bastards are willing to pay.

thats very true.. but like i said.. if you wanna sell it throw a 7bolt n sell it.. if you want a AWD race car.. get a 6bolt and go nutz on mods! either way.. GJ on the find.

Ok I am assuming you mean the carrier bearing? The braket for that? If you dont want to fix it I will give you $500 for it you will make a couple hundred real qiuck? PM if you are interested.

You are in a great situation.

many people wish that they could come up on sweet deals like this.

Don't let this deal pass you up, you'll kick yourself in the asz if you do.

I'm in a similar situation right now....except the car is 6 hours away from me.

It looks like th general consensis of the group is that you should keep it weld the drive line put in a new head, gut it, maybe slap on some paint and take it to the strip. by the time your done with it you will paid what we would have paid for a dsm without mods and yours will be track ready
