Ight guys this is my first post here "under my new sn".. I had a Manual 93 Eclipse GS Turbo before.. I loved it... I'm looking at a 98 GST Auto... And I'd like to put it in the 12's in the 1/4..

What kinda #'s is the stock auto tranny about to hold b4 having problems... and is it a money pit to try and put a car like that into the 12s?

What mods would get me there?

My GSX is auto and it doesnt bother me. www.ipttrans.com will have everything you need such as a higher stall torque converter, shift kit, valve bodies etc. I plan on getting some stuff from them when i get the money.

Hey, i wouldn't underestimate the auto tranny. i'd say it could safely hold 400. Thats my goals, 12's around 400. And i wouldn't consider it a money pit. It'll cost about the same as compared to a manual to mod.
Here's my list, for an idea of what you might want.
tubular exhaust manifold, ebay
evo III16g at 25psi ported, 34mm wastegate flapper.
full 3" turboback exhaust
Hard intake pipe, hacked off air can w/ sheet metal heatshield.
2g mas
small FMIC with short running pipe
short runner sheat metal intake manifold
660CC fuel injectors
190lph walboro fuel pump, rewired
dsmlink
For the A/T get a modified valve body w/shift kit, and a big a/t fluid cooler.
suspension, eibach lowering springs, kyb agx adjustable shocks. larger swaybars, strutbars
Hopefully after i put my new engine in(my automatic trans is currently the only part of my car in working order), some hks cams, lightened pulleys, removed a/c and powersteering. maybe a little weight reduction. i should be running 12's easily.

Another good upgrade would be stainless steel break lines to hold the car better for the launch. Auto tranny coolers can be had fairely cheap on IPT and they have a couple different sizes.

The tranny should be good. Go check out the drag talk forum, and look for the thread labled "where are the fwd's at?", this thread is full of us going fast in fwd DSMs. Also you will need a lot of stuff to hit 12s in a fwd DSM.
Coil-overs (stiffen the rear end, and soft front end)
LSD(Quaife, or KAAZ)
Built bottom-end(pistons, rods, and fully balance the assembly)
Heads: Cams, adjustable cam gears, port it, manley, or crower valve springs w/ Ti retainers, ARP mains, head, rods
50 trim, or 60-1, or like turbo
wally 255 + rewire
AFPR
DSMLink w/ logger or SAFC w/ logger
720s with DSMLink or 660s with SAFC(recomend the DSMLink if you want to go 12s)
FMIC
ACT 2600
flywheel or have stock resurfaced and a step height of .609" for ACT or cfcd clutches
Meth injection *optional
Race gas(advance timing with no knock)
slicks
extrude hone the intake manifold
port the 2G exhaust mani, o2 housing, a 3" turbo back exhaust
Hard air intake pipe with filter
1G BOV (stocker 2G leaks at 15 psi)
remove all ac

With that set up you will get low 12s, but set time is the key, dont get discouraged if you dont hit 12s on first run.

Holy Crap man ^^^^ are you serious.. that's one heck of a mod list...

I wanna do simple bolt-ons... maybe a turbo upgrade.. shift kit... TQ converter...

Sounds like I'd be wasting my money.. I wanted to spend in the $2000 or less category

Id be spending around 2k on my setup. Maybe a little more if at all. Most of my money's gone into repairs so it's hard to tell haha.

2k is not going to get you into the 12's on a FWD. If you put it into perspective for 2k all you could get is a turbo, FMIC and piping, clutch, boost controller, and some stickies for traction. Even that is pushing it depending on the turbo you choose. Heres a good tool for measure i.e. my setup

FP3065 w/ TiAl 44 external WG and stainless O2---- 2500.00 (only because its completely polished, can be had for 200.00 cheaper)

SBR 3500 clutch w/LSD Insert 600.00

18" rims with 225/45 NT555's- 1800.00

Apexi coilovers bought second hand ---- 450.00

DSMLink w/eprom ecu---- 700.00

Poly MotorM and full bushings 350.00

Strut/sway bars all around----- 500.00( can be had cheaper or more expensive)

3" turbo back --- 500.00

injectors and FPR--- 500.00

FMIC and piping ---- 800.00

OK my list is going to end here... Im getting myself dizzy thinking about all the money I have spent... As you can see though its not cheap, especially if you do it right.

Totat above is close to 9k and thats just most of the major stuff. Not including all my stainless lines/fittings, the tuning that would have to be done on a dyno, misc. and anything you break in the process.

All in all I have spent over 30k on my car so far.. not a cheap hobby, but well worth the investment.

Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what your in for.

Take your time and enjoy it. Buy things a little at at time and eventually you'll have the baddest setup around town. Ive had my car since 99 and I just now am about to complete it so dont feel bad.
