My friend has a 1G motor rebuilt by a machine shop. The motor has about 25 miles on it. Was in his car, drove it, decided to part his car out and now its up for grabs. When he initially had it in the car it was smoking pretty bad and his headgasket was leaking. So he replaced the headgasket and now its not smoking but occasionally some smoke does come out of the exhaust.
Is this prone to new motors? Is it just the motor wearing in? I mean there is absolutely no miles on this thing. He is asking for about $1000 for the motor rebuilt with stock parts, no balance shaft, blueprinted.
Good Deal? I assume so, he paid close to that to get it rebuild by a machine shop.
My question is: on rebuilt motors, should smoking be expected?
