Car Idles Hard, Will not accellerate normally, Dies when left Idling

Hey guys,

As the title suggests, my baby is running wierd :'( It was running like a champ earlier, but then, it was almost out of the blue, the car started to accellerate funny and vibrate oddly. When I attempted to acellerate, the rpms would jump and the car would sluggishly run and would not accelerate at all. The CEL came flashing on a minute or two later. All the lights on the lefthand side of the console came on also, but not the right hand side ones.

Any ideas guys? I need to get my car running ASAP.

The easiest way to find out is to have the codes pulled so you can identify the problem directly and not waste time trying to fix things that might or might not solve the issue. Most auto parts stores will do these for free and you can find a listing of code meanings here:

In the meantime, I would check a few easy things:

1. MAF Sensor is plugged in by the intake
2. Intake coupler is firmly attached to the turbo inlet
3. No intercooler pipes have come loose
4. All sensors like the ISC and TPS (on the throttle body) are plugged in.

Let us know what you find out and we should be able to point you in the right direction.

Wow!

Alright, I checked to see if any intercooler pipes have come loose - Nope

Checked to see if the MAF is plugged in - Yes

Checked to see if the Intake Coupler is plugged into turbo - Don't know what ot look for

Looked to see if all sensors were plugged into throttle body - Looks good to me

Does anyone have an OBDII Sensor I can borrow? :'( I dont drive it cause there's smoke that comes from by the alternater when I rev the engine in neutral. Not like a lot, but like as much as a cigarette or something.

I'd 2nd the Alternator problem.

The same thing happend to my Talon about 3 years ago...My alternator bracket had broken and my alternator wasn't making any contact to charge the battery. Typically if the alternator isn't working or is dying the car won't drive very well as all the electronics to run the car go to hell. Most shops can do a quick alternator test...or if after a few days your car won't start then chances are your battery died because it wasn't charging while you were driving.
