I was just wondering...

On a completely stock 2g GS-T (T-25), would installing a bigger Upper Intercooler Pipe (Such as a Dejon) make the turbo spool later than it did with the stock UICP?

Thanks

No, I never noticed any lag with the t25. The bigger upper intercooler pipe makes the car faster because the stock one is actualy a restriction if you look by the air box/filter.

Thanks

Before the UICP/BOV install I know I had 0 boost leaks. Now, I haven't yet checked (And will now) but after my UICP/BOV install my car seems to take a lot longer to start boosting, but when the boost hits it pulls MUCH harder than before. Odd...

It feels like it pulls harder b/c it takes longer to hit and your anticipating it :) You also have a larger area to fill, so if your experiencing any lag, it shouldnt be much.

Yeah I'll go for a drive in a little bit and see at what RPM it's hitting full boost.

And no it doesn't feel like it pulls hard because I'm anticipating it. Going from completely stock to a Dejon UICP, HKS SSQV (Recirc'd), and Extreme PSI Intake w/ 4.5" Filter made a pretty good difference. I'd say about the difference between a Civic EX and a Civic SI, but they're both slow anyways ;)

There is a larger volume to fill, but since the air is going to move along the outside of the pipe anyway, the smooth UCIP as opposed to stock should show an decrease in spool up time if anything. I will bet you have a boost leak! Even a small one can affect your car greatly

Yeah.. I bet its leaking from the throttle body since Dejon uses such a thin flange. I'll boost leak test it, then I'll most likely find its leaking from the throttle body, then I'll have to seal it up with some RTV Gold, or if the actual pipe where they weld the flange is leaking, then I'll contact Dejon.

And I read your review. I'm experiencing that "jerk" now (As if the turbo is turned on by a switch) as opposed to before where it was smooth rollon power.

Also, one thing I noticed

With the SSQV installed in the flange, it doesn't sit in there super tight like it does with the HKS flange that you use with the stock UICP. Infact, I can rotate the BOV in the flange on the uicp. Its not easy to do, but its also not very hard. Shouldn't it be rock solid?

Yeah i felt the same sort of thing when i installed mine. Later on i experienced a boost leak at the thottle body area. So be prepared for that. I also used some RTV to seal it up. Good luck!

This is normal, just make sure that gasket is in there and the bov and c-clip are seated flat.

Yea I believe I found out what's up. The two pipes must have moved a bit and because the center coupling that connects both of them is a bit short, one of the clamps slid down at an angle, causing a bit of a boost leak. I'm gonna take out the fuse box, loosen all the clamps and reseat both pipes and then retighten. I'll update if that didn't fix it.

Thanks :D
