16G Wastegate Flapper

I searched the forums for this and didn't really find the answer I was looking for. I pulled my turbo and was looking at the wastegate flapper. Two things, The first thing is I can't pull it open just by using my finger, shouldn't it be able to open easier than that? and Two, both ports are black as hell, I'm guessing that's from the previous owner running too rich?

Your wastegate isn't supposed to be movable with finger pressure since it needs to resist the air that naturally flows to it as it boosts. Also, the blackness is indeed from running rich. If the turbo was run on a motor with a stock fuel setup and A/F ratio, that would certainly explain the carbon buildup. Most cars that run on the lean side have a tan color on the turbine blades and those that have run race gas will be covered with white deposits from lead.

Sounds like you're OK to me,

Andy

Yeah was running rich for a bit with the AFCII since I have the 550cc injectors and am not running high boost atm until I get the nice 16G boost leak issue fixed. Also the guy who had the car before me had the MBC Tee'd off the BOV which is retarded. Does anyone know if there's a place that makes J-Pipes with a nipple on them for the MBC?

You don't need to buy one with a nipple on it already. You can simply tap the j-pipe and do it yourself. If you don't have a tap and die set, you can drill a slightly undersized hole and the nipple will still thread into it. Just be careful and keep the nipple straight when installing it.

That's what I was planning on doing. Any idea on where to get the nipple and what size the thing should be?
