I was having vibration at high speeds that was related to decel and I noticed I had a lot of play in my passenger side axle trans side cv joint. So Pep boys doesn't even carry an axle for a 95 talon tsi and they cant order it. Autozone orders me a 6752 CCT lifetime warranty axle. - Only they ordered the wrong side. The axle I got was splined and male on one side and female on the other which I'm 99% sure is for the Driver side where it meets the intermediate shaft. The guy was arguing with me saying it is the passenger side. The car is A/T and I haven't taken it apart yet but can somebody just confirm it should be male on both side for the Passenger side.

Thank You in advance.

I had a ton of trouble trying to get the right axels from autozone and advanced auto. I finally told them to keep the axels and i hit up Raxels and picked up a set. You should shoot them an email or just call them, they will get you the right axels the first time. Oh yeah to answer your question the passenger side both ends are male connections.

In every 2g turbo DSM I've worked on, the passenger side axle has 2 male spines on both ends.

From my experience, parts places seem to have lots of trouble with our cars. I went in looking for a drivers axle for my AWD and had to buy axles from NAPA, Autozone, and Advance before I finally figured out that the only axle that would work was listed for a 1g AWD in their system. It may be a stretch for you, but it ended up working for me.

Ask to see the diagrams of the parts and choose the year that works for you.

I ran into the same problems with nobody having them. I tried the large chanis, but they couldnt even order them.
I found a decent size local place that services New England Called "West Springfield Auto Parts"
http://www.wsaparts.com/

I picked mine up a year ago around $95 a side. Only took a day for them to order.
Not sure how much extra it would be for them to be shipped to you, but sounds like it might be worth a shot?

I believe theres 8 different axles for the 97's alone. I work at NAPA and have the hardest time getting correct axles for our cars.

I also went through the whole thing with Autozone/Advance/Napa and the passenger side axle...they couldn't get the right axle. Rockauto got it for me shipped directly to my house the first time and cheaper than the chain stores.

between the awd and fwd there are 15 differnt axels but ironically some of them appear to be completely the same but differnt part#s(same outboard/inboard slines same length same configuration etc.) several of them from autozone are listed for non abs but still have the abs ring..WTF!

reading this is starting to scare me. My drivers side CV-Shaft went out and I just ordered one from napa. Hope its the right one or I am gonna be pissed. Quick questions, does the driver's side cv-shaft for a 97 gsx have both male ends for the outer CV-shaft?

edit: Driver's side FRONT CV-Shaft

It really is crazy. I know I can get new from napa as well....Ill be doing that from now on. I think my driverside napa one is about to go anyways

Just to confirm for everybody yes the Passenger side axle is Male Male. I pulled it out tonight after another heated debate with Autozone. I took pictures this time. Even looking it up on their website the part number the guy is pulling is listed as the correct side. So either the listing is screwed up or the part was boxed wrong. Either way I'm throwing in the towel. I'm taking the axle back tomorrow and calling Raxles for a pair of axles. Do them both and hopefully i'll be fine for a long time. Is it worth it to buy driveshaft shop or fidanza axles? I doubt i'll be wanting more than 450hp anytime soon. I have my hands full with my mustang track car already.
