Im taking my tranny out for a rebuild and Ive pulled a tranny out of a car before but never an eclipse... Is there a VFAQ on this cause I couldnt find one I would just like it on paper so I can have a check list as I go..... also while im down there what should I replace? my throwout bearing is OEM replaced 1500 miles ago the tranny side engine oil seal has been replaced and the clutch is new... should I replace axles or soemthing
Thanks
Sam

i just removed my tranny for the first time for a rebuild as well and i replaced my clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and flywheel, thats it....... as for a good guide i jus have a haynes repair manual for when i get lost and dont forget to put ## bolts in bags and label them for what they go to, its easy to forget these things.

merkles is right on with the bolt bags. ive pulled my buddies fwd tranny something like 8 times with him. and have done my own tranny 2 times. bolt bags are amazing when putting everything back together. also the axles dont need to be replaced unless a boot is ripped or there bent or in bad condition. your tob is still good if its oem, stay away from any other tob as they have high fail rates. definately replace the tranny fluid with some syncromesh, slowboy has 3 bottles for something like 15 bucks, do it and youll feel the difference when you start banging gears again. hopefully this helps at all...

If you aren't going to replace axles, CV joints, or hubs: Just unbolt the 2 lower arms at the chassis end and remove the damper fork bolt and the entire assembly will swing out far enough to pry the axles out of the tranny. You don't even need to remove them from the hub or undo any ball joints.

As for bolts I like to have cardboard sheets for each major area and just poke a hole through to put them in drawing a picture where they go (or just writing on the sheet). This works well especially for case bolts where each one is a different length.

Just use one of the clutch replacement guides.

ive found the easiest way to take it out is to take off the passenger side suspension components. it frees up some much needed space. also have a friend to at least keep you company.
