Are those fuel pressure regulators that ebay sells any good? How hard are they to put in?

is there a difference between the ones that say just eclipse and the ones that say turbo. Are they all universal or is there a special one for turbos

Regulators for turbo applications generally have a boost reference port on them; usually, look for a small barbed fitting on the regulator where you can connect a vacuum line. If you have a turbo vehicle, you MUST have this feature in a fuel pressure regulator; otherwise, instead of your fuel pressure rising 1:1 along with boost, it would remain at a constant pressure, and you'd run lean the second you hit the gas (think about it: as air pressure increases in the intake tract, the injectors have to do more work to force fuel into the intake; in fact, the amount of work needed is directly proportional to the amount of boost you're running).

For your own reference, pop your hood and take a look at your stock fuel pressure regulator bolted to the driver's side of your fuel rail. You'll notice a large line aimed down and back; that's your return hose, for carrying unused fuel back to the tank. You'll also notice a small vacuum line that runs to the fuel pressure solenoid; that's the OEM equivilant of the boost reference port on most aftermarket regulators.

ok I understand. But how about the one that i have shown. Has anyone bought a fpr on ebay.

If you want to buy crap, you may end up with crap results or at worst motor damage from the FPR not rising at a 1:1 rate. Pony up a few more bucks and pick up the Aeromotive FPR kit from Import Evolution. It works, it's not overly expensive and it's a no brainer.

Interstingly enough a look at your profile shows that you're on the stock fuel system. Why bother with an AFPR? It's not going to help anything if the pump can't supply higher volume. Also, you wouldn't need one of these unless you installed a Walbro 255 (the 190 doesn't experience the same level of overrun and can be run on the stock FPR).

Hope that helps,

Andy

well i do have the 255 pump i just havent installed it yet i was going to do it all together.

Is the fuel pump something i can do myself?

Maybe. It depends on your level of skill. There are many faq's for how to install that bad dog. Find one and go to town.
