My car seems to be smoking blue . Wich is deffenitley oil however i have not figured out the source from where it is coming from? Is it possible for the oil seal to leak only on the exausht side ? The reason why i say this is because there is no oil in the intercooler piping . I pulled the plugs and they look great and the car runs very good. I have not done a compression check yet but i will today . If you can help me or have had this happen to you please help!!!!! thanks

You could, but you will get a better view by pulling the DP.
When you do a compression test, let us know.
When does it smoke? After idling, accelleration, deceleration, between shifts?

What had happen previously is this ! I bought a small 16g and installed a bulleyse turbine housing . Well it was not machined for the heat sheild so it was blowing exausht out all around the middle and maybe thats what damged the oil seal ? i drove it like 200 miles before i figured it out!

when you first start it when its cold you really dont get much smoke but when you start to boost you will see a little smoke . Then when it gets warmed to normal temp at idle it will really smoke and if i tap the gas just a little it really sets it off . It idles perfect! 750 rpm i vac about 15-20 . It is deffentley oil its so raw smelling it smells like its toatsing in your nose!

Well i pulled the o2 sensor and it looked normal no oil on the ends god i hope its not my rings! But i have a feeling its the turbo but you never know! I will be performing the compression test here in about 30 minutes!

A little side-to-side is ok. But there should be no in-and-out.
Also check to see that the compressor wheel spins freely. If so, then I am thinking that your problem isn't the turbo.

was the oil lines routed to the turbo properly? we did that once on a trans am, the return line wasnt routed properly so the oil would accumulate in the turbo and it would smoke blue.

Yeh the lines are hooked up right!! I think the turbo is seal is fried from the heatsheild not being sealed when i tried that bullseye housing that wasnt properly machined to hold the 16g s heatshield firm against the turbo inlet side.

yeah it sounds like turbo seals, well better to have your turbo seals blown then your piston rings. would it be possible to replace the old turbo to see if that blows blue? that way you can rule out your motor.

It sounds to me like it is possible your valve stem seals. The way to check them out is to pull off your exhaust manifold and check the exhaust runners for oil.
I would do that before you buy another turbo.

Ok i preformed a boost leak test and it sounds like its leaking inside the engine? It would not hold more than 16 psi and it was making a gurgle noise after i stop blowing air in? If its the valvle stems seals what will need to be done?

If it's the valve stem seals, what happens is when the engine isn't running (like when you park it overnight) oil slowly drips down from the head into the combustion chamber and ends up on the head of the piston. It accumulates slowly. Then, when you start it up, that oil in the combustion chambers starts to burn off.

So, it will smoke at start-up, and for a little while during idle. However, it will burn off and eventually stop smoking. It doesn't sound like stem seals to me.

Ok i got to thinking what maybe causing this gurgle noise and the air leaking sound inside the motor . I remebered that i bought and replaced the pcv vavle with one from auto zone . I can blow through blow ends very freely . So now i think that was the sound i was hearing. I have a oem one that i can barely blow air through on onside and the other pretty freely. So i will boost leak test it today and see if this was it . For all those who maybe experincing this . I will keep you posted!

If you have gone to an oil catch can, you should ensure you have enough flow thru the can. Too much back pressure in the crankcase could cause smoking as well....especially right after coming off boost.

Well started it this morning and it didnt smoke at all im leaning towards the turbo being bad we will see? I will post when it is fixed so everyone knows what it was!
