I just bought a shift light from summit and ive read up on how to install it. I know the red wire is power, and black is ground. The third wire (green) needs to bug into the 18th pin on my ecu which is the "vehicle speed sensor" for it to work. Just wanting to verify before i dig into the install. Am i right in what i say?

P.S. found the diagram at http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html under electrical 1g ecu pin layout

I wouldnt recommend hooking it up to the vehicle speed sensor, as that is off the transmission and lets the ecu know how fast your car is moving. I don't have my book here with me, but all you need to do is hook it into the factory tach wire. That shift light should have an adjustable rpm on it to light up at a selectable rpm, so you would want to hook it into the tachometer.
Hope this helps you out
Shawn

so if i take my cluster off...there should be a wire going to the tach currently...just bug into that and it should work....ive had my cluster off before and never really noticed i guess..

ps what color is the wire

Depending on what the shift light needs in the way of an RPM signal you can use the ignition pulse detect on pin 109 or the CAS signal from pin 21. I think the IPD signal is a 12v pulse where the CAS signal is a 5v pulse.

Do you find a big advantage using a shift light on your NT?

The white wire they seem to be talking about is the signal that goes to pin 109.
It's a little confusing because the 4 pin connector for the coils is unique to 1990 cars, on the later cars the signal comes from the power transistor module (ignitor). Either case it runs to the factory tach and ECU pin 109.
