Ok, my cigarette lighter in my 1G isn't the best anymore, i've taken it apart to tighten things up a few times now, but it's getting old LOL I have to have my sirius radio plugged into it for power, so my question is, is there a way i can just cut the plug off the sirius wire, that i use to plug into the cigarette lighter and just wire it up to the car somehow?

I dissambled and reassembled mine a few times, but that didn't work either. I tested it with a multimeter and found charge across the wires, so I guess that those things just wear out eventually. I got a new cigarette lighter assembly from the dealer for only $40. Its probably a lot less than a new Sirius plug if you decide to move it to another car.

you could go to any auto parts store and get a 12volt outlet and hard wire that into the old cigeritte light wires or wire it into the radio power wire and then plug your sirus radio into that thats what i did on the boat so i can take my xm on the water

Yeah just go get another 12v outlet from a hardware store, hardwire it like Black95TSI said and sit it behind your dash, run your wires and plug in sirus and keep all the wiring behind your dash/radio area.

Straight-in would be fine. Looks like a standard radar detector plug. You can get hardwire kits for them, check eBay.

K I do this all the time at work (I sell sirius) Cut the cig plug off the sirius power cord. There should be a white stripe on one of the wires. That is the positive wire. You can hook it up to the red wire on the harness of your after market cd player. If you have one. Then ground the other one. If you dont have an aftermarket cd player, you will have to find another switched power. FUSE IT. Then you have what is called a hard wired thingy. Hope that helps.
