How do you log knock on a 2g without haveing dsm link, i have a datalogger but i cant log knock or injector duty with it, Any info is appreciated
 
2Gs can't log knock directly, you just have to watch the timing curve. Any sharp dips, boom. That's knock.
 
I believe that on the 2g you cant log knock with a logger. You have to log timing, rpm and tps!! If you see drops in timing that means your knocking!!
I noticed you cant read idc. Try to select ipw on the logger. That should in turn show you the idc without being high lighted.
This is what I have to do on my logger
 
when i get my safc 2 will that show knock, because it says it has a knock meter or something.
 
Simple answer: you can't log knock on a 2g.
Better answer: Since the 2g ECU retards timing when it detects knock; log RPM, front O2 and timing. Log a 3rd gear pull from 2K RPM to redline. Pay close attention to the timing in the resulting log. Timing will dip dramatically as boost kicks in and then should steadily increase as RPM increases. If you see any dips or decreases in timing at points during the increasing timing curve, that's an indication knock has occurred and the ECU retarded timing. The stock O2 sensor does not give you an accurate indication of air/fuel ratio but you can see changes in O2 voltage as the RPM increases. Watch for decreases in O2 voltage where the timing retards. It may indicate you are going lean.
 
AFC's are not reliable as far as registering knock. Don't even bother.

To accurately read knock with a logger keep the following in mind: The 2G ECU will hold timing at 7 counts of knock and pull 1 degree of timing for every three counts above that. Here's a scenario:

1-6 Knock Counts: no effect
7 Knock Counts: timing is held at it's current point
10 Knock Counts: 1 degree of timing pulled
13 Knock Counts: 2 degrees of timing pulled
16 Knock Counts: 3 degrees of timing pulled, etc, etc up to 43 counts

Based on the ECU mapping, it's therefore easy to see how much knock you're getting based on the timing dips.

That's not entirely accurate. Even without a logger, you can see up to 15 knock counts if you have an EPROM ECU and Keydiver chip configured to read knock on the stock boost gauge.

Is that an actual reading of the 2g knocksum or interpolated from rpm/timing or other inputs?

Works great and it's my main method of knowing where to go with my tune. What I like about it is that I can see knock in real time and not wait until the end of a pull to see if it knocked and I was too aggressive.
