ecu swap from 95 to 97gst

I have a 97 gst manual transmission I want to swap a 95 ecu from a automatice tsi eagle talon to my 97 gst I know the cam sensors are different are there any problems i would have because my car in stick are there any mods i have to do ?????????????????
 
You just need to find if any other sensors are different. As far is it being from an automatic, drivability wont be a problem. It would only be a problem if you were trying to put a manual ecu into an auto car.

It's not an issue. I am currently running a 97 ECU from a Manual GSX in my 97 Auto GST. I have also installed a ECU from a 95 manual GSX. Both ECUs ran fine. The auto trans has it's own TCU and the ECU from either type of transmission DSM will work.

Hmm...I just dont see how the trans would know when to shift when its not being told by the computer.

The trans is shifted by the Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The ECU "knows" if there is a TCU connected or not and feeds data to the TCU.
 
He'll also need to swap his two outside and two inside plug wires on the coil since the 95-96's use a different firing order than the 97-99's.

That, and the inverted CAS signal may cause rougher idling and an occasional misfire CEL, but that doesn't happen with all cars. My 97 ran fine with the inverted CAS and a 95 EPROM ECU. Your mileage may vary...

Yes, it's a simple swap. No changes to anything need to be made. The GST ECU has a speed limiter at 130 mph and the GSX does not. If you're doing this swap for OBD2 smog purposes, let us know if the 99 ECU makes it easier to complete the readiness monitor drive cycles.

Yes, you can do it. Just remember the 1-2, 4-3 plug wire swap and inverted CAS if you install it in a 95-96.

As long as you're talking about only 4G63 Turbo DSM's this is true. You can't swap ECU's between non-turbo and turbo models. I assumed you were only interested in the turbo DSM's and had to qualify my statement because you said "ANY 2G DSM".
 
oh, I know all about the 420As, trust me.
I know how they are completely different in every way, and the only compatible parts between them are the exhaust studs.
I had a talon for 2 years LOL.

Also, just remember that you can't swap auto and manual ECU's in a 1g because of the different sized injectors. Not that this applies to this question, but I thought I would throw it in there incase someone found it in a search later.
