How Can I Tell If I Have An LSD? [Merged 7-8]

sorry don't mean to double post, but this should have been here in the first place, doh... QUESTION- how do you tell if there is a rear lsd on the car?

i am not 100% positive but i think that there was a thread that outlined the details of what production cars came stock with the lsd... do a search

Look at the Jam on your driver side door. If there is an orange sticker then you have it. Also when your car is up in the air you can rotate the rear wheels and if the other side rotates the same way then you have a LSD in the rear diff.

thanks awd, i had my car on jack stands yesterday and rotated the wheels, and oh yeah, i got it... then i stuck my left 2 wheels in dirt and right on pavement gunned it and off i went, thank for your reply though

believe that the early built ones did.

My 1g has one. Look under the car at the rear end assembly. Mine has this japanese writing and then under it, it says LSD. And on the drivers door, when you open it, there is an orange sticker that says LSD.

90-94 has rear LSD as an option. Basically you either got ABS or LSD. You couldn't have both on a 1g. All 2g awds are rear LSD even with ABS.

Not correct.

No 2G Talons officially had rear LSDs as standard equipment, however 98s were only available with the 25L package which did include the rear LSD. I have never seen a 97+ GSX without a rear LSD, however another thread here does identify 2 97s without rear LSD.

Feel free also to crawl under my gilfriend's 95 AWD or under my 95 autocrosser; whilst my 95 has a Kaaz LSD in the rear, the housing is the original non-LSD unit, and thus has a sticker without the Viscous LSD wording on it.

defiant let us know that his talon does have lsd from the factory and its a 95

No Talons had rear LSD as STANDARD equipment. It was an option, available individually or as part of another option package - it was never a STANDARD part.

I have a 1993 AWD Talon and it has both ABS and the rear LSD. Only 90-92 could not have both.

form what i know, the 1gA could not have lsd with the abs, yet the 1gB could, I still amd n ot sure why but I guss it does not matter I am takin my abs out and going 4 bolt

That's pretty funny. My 92 AWD Laser had ABS as well as an LSD rear diff.

Charles is right about 2G’s.

As for 1G’s:

90- NO ABS is available, LSD is an option
91 ABS is available but not with LSD.
92-94 Both ABS and LSD are optional and can be combined.
