Well, today I'll be going to the dealership to pick up my gaskets for my 6 bolt (intake, exhaust, frontcase, and oil pump gaskets). Now my question is, how do you guys torque the intake manifold nuts? There seems to be very limited room to work with, and I only have a 3/8 inch torque wrench, I would appreciate any tips! Thanks a ton guys!

It would be a real pain to try and properly torque all the manifold nuts while the head is still on the car. I would just try and torque them down by hand as evenly as possible. Remember, the threads are in aluminum, so do not go crazy tight with them. As long as both surfaces are clean and not warped, you should not have any issues.

ahh, I fogot to mension, the engine is not in the car :thumb:
however, there still seems to be a limited amount of room on the bottom half of the intake manifold (its a stock 1G mani)
as the runners curve very closely to the flange. I feel the top ones will be fine, I'm just conserned about the bottom half.
Also, I do not have the hans with me right now, but when I torque them down, I start in the middle and work my way to the ends? right? thanks a ton guys! Im just tring to get one step closer to getting this SOB boosting again! Man, Im going through some serious boost widthdrawls!

Get some blue rtv, next clean both sides of surface, with a razor blade maybe some cleaner. Just to get it nice and good. Put a nice small bead on the head since its out, then drop gasket on then another small bead on the intake mani. Next put all the bolts on hand tight. Then start from the center and tighten them to what you feel is tight enough. Now if it is a new gasket it should seal well. Just start from the 2 center bolts and work your way out, evenly. Then once you are done let the rtv dry and your all set. I have never tourqed my intake mani and I personally have no idea if it is even possible, but as long as you put even pressure throught it will be fine.:D Good luck bro.

Hey, thanks a ton man! I totally forgot to get RTV, thanks for the reminder. It is a brand new gasket so it should all be good. Thanks again!
