I just got my DSM a month or so ago. It has about 73K miles on it. Lately I've had some trouble with shifting into 3rd gear, from 2nd mainly. When I shift it feels like there is alittle resistance and if I don't wait till the rpms drop to about 1k it makes a grinding noise. I thought maybe it was just me doing something wrong, but when my dad drove it he noticed the same thing. Now the resistance is really bad to the point where I almost can't shift into 3rd at all. I have no idea what this could be HELP please. :dsm:

Thats what I was affraid of. I'm getting an oil change and having all the fluids and such changed tomorrow I hope that helps. For now till I have the money to spend on fixing it.

Edit: spelling

best bet fill the tranny fluid and hit the junkyard you might find a good deal maybe cheaper than repairing :thumb: good luck

Fill the tranny with a good oil, Pennzoil Syncromesh and BG Syncroshift are too very good ones. I was having some crucial shifting problems untill I adjusted my clutch pedal and filled up with Syncromesh and 99% of the my problems went away.

I agree with SinaiTSI...my tranny was really hard to get into 3rd and 1st. i put in the pennzoil syncromesh and it helped a ton. Real cheap way to add some extra miles before a rebuild.

Thanks thats good to hear I really don't wnat to put more parts for this thing on credit card again. Atleast not this soon. I'll go with the syncromesh adn let you guys know how it goes

OK so I got some Syncromesh and put it in, about 2 quarts. The shifting is much smoother now, third still grinds if I shift too quick, but thats the nature of the beast. Thanks alot everyone.

Now I think the socket for the bolt to drain the fluid might be stripped. I've sealed it right now. Is there anyway I can fix this myself if it starts to leak? :dsm:
