It all started with my battery draining all the time. I would recharge it and after 2 days it would always drain out.

So, I started looking for blown fuses, bad grounds etc.... and found an intersting thing on one of the fuses (one from the engine bay area).
There is a wire connected to the fog light fuse hole and it leads to a separate 15amp fuse which then goes via another wire onto the brake light fuse.

Here's a picture so you guys know exactly what I'm talking about.

This is after I removed the actual wire and fuse. But this illustrates exactly of how they were positioned.

Thinking that this damn fuse and wire combo is causing my battery drainage, I removed it.
And here's the weird part. As soon as I removed the wire and the 15amp fuse my rear lights, dash lights, and radio stopped working. The headlights, brakelights, and windows however still work at this point.
When I reconnect the wires and 15amp fuse everything works normal again..............
I don't know if this makes any difference but the car has a 2gb headlight and front bumper conversion. Disregard the car in my sign. It's my old 97GST

What could be wrong??? Can anybody help me out here?:(

In that picture it looked like you didn't have an alternator fuse! The one that is next to the big blue fuse on the far left. You say it's a gs-t I don't know if they are in a different spot but if you are missing that then that would be your problem. Without that fuse I would think that would drain the battery fast. It should be a 100 amp fuse that you can get from autozone.

That sounds like someone tried to wire up the fogs to bypass the "headlights on in order for foglights to come". It sounds like they messed up trying to make their fog lights come on with the parking lights, in which the VFAQ article states to run that exact setup that was on your car, but run it to your interior lights i believe.

Perhaps that messed up fog light re-wire job someone did is draining your system?

I see no other reason that someone would put a relay and wire where they did other than to try and bypass the foglight relay, and they ended up wiring it way wrong!

edit: in reference to you actual problem of lacking interior lights, etc., i can only safely say to check and make sure you arent missing any fuses, it seems like they may have removed a fuse in the process, and the relay/wire setup is the only thing keeping your lights going?? sorry for the lack of perfect help but good luck to you!

The alternator fuse IS there. Take a better look.

Well, I guess this isn't causing the battery drain. I recharged my battery yesterday and removed the wire and 15amp fuse. As soon as I woke up today I tried to start the car and (of course) the battery was drained. It actually happened faster this time. It took 2 days for the battery to drain before but now it doesn't take even a single day...........What the hell?

the alternator was replaced only once (500miles ago) with an autozone rebuilt one. The alternator fuse hasn't blown. Does that mean that the alternator works properly?

If it was dying while your car was running then the altenator is shot, but its draining overnight which means something is improperly grounded or their is a short somewhere. If you have and aftermarket car alarm or sterio, then I would check their too. It seems like this person who owned the car may have "ghetto rigged" something else.

Edit: Or who knows, maybe its just an old tired out battery

It's a "walmart special" battery. It replaced the oem battery about 1 year ago. The car did have a sub and an amp which I removed about a week ago. This didn't solve the problem however.

hmmmm, something must be improperly grounded/ shorting out. The problem must be occuring on a circut which gets constant power from the battery, such as the radio, or the lights, car alarm, starter, etc. Personaly I would look at the wiring diagram and find the devices which have a direct to battery connection and make sure they are grounded and their are no shorts.

Electrical problems are the worst because the only way to fix them is to systematicaly hunt them down. Good luck :thumb:

Edit: what if a relay was stuck in the on position? That might cause it to drain too because their would be a closed circut and power would be flowing to that device, like the fule pump for examlpe. LOL sorry to bring up more possibilities.

I already took the relay out yesterday and like I mentioned before, the battery still drained out........even faster this time. hmmmmm

Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery and hook a standard test light in between the terminal and cable. If the light comes on, you have a current draw somewhere. Just leave it like that and pull each fuse out untill the light goes off. That would be the circuit that is causing the drain and make it easier to troubleshoot. Beyond that, I couldnt begin to tell you what is causing the drain.

the easiest way is to do what 92Awd said. I bet its ## door locks or somehting along that line.

Well...........I found the problem. I checked for shorts and I found two. One is related To the Headlamp and the other one is IGN SW. Moteur.
What is a "short" anyways? Is it a damaged wire? What does the term refer to?

Now, the question is.........how do I fix these and will it be a pain in the ass?
