Right now i have a 1.8 DOHC - 4G67. I believe it comes in some Hyundais and older Galants. The thing is... im building a motor and if i didnt have to buy another block or crank... that would be a good thing... i've been told that the cast of the block is the same... the only difference is the deck height.. ooo sorry.. meaning the cast of the 4G67 block and the 4G63 block.. im building the 2.0 engine... the regular eclipse ones... does anyone know about these engines... so far everything i have bought bolt on wise is the same as the 4G63 engines... but im not sure about the internals... i know i have to change rods and pistons regardless... i was just wondering if i would need a new crank and block???? any help is much appreciated, Thanks in advance, Xavier.

With the amount of time and cash you will spend, It would be adviseable to just get a working 2.0 longblock. Unless you wanted to be unique, there's a fella here that has a 1.6 mirage motor in his DSM:thumb: Goodluck

nah... i wouldnt get the 2.0 longblock because im going to be changing everything anyway... im going fully built.. so all parts i need have to be high performance... so i was wondering since i have this 1.8 in the car already... i may aswell just use the crank and block if there the same as the 4G63... if not then ill just have to get a block and crank from somewhere else but thanks for your reply.

If you bore out the cylinder block of a 4G67 to accomodate 85mm pistons then you already have a 4G63 block. I believe the crank is the same since both engines have the same stroke, 88mm.

OOOO Ok... so i can use the crank. thats atleast good to know... now i just have to find out about the block... for certain. How big would it need to be bored if any at all... thanks very much for ## input

you have the 4G37, its the 1.8l sohc that came in the 89-94, have you checked out dsm1eights.com they have a lot of good stuff there and there are two ppl rebuilding their engines from the bottom up... just thought u should know that its teh 4G37 ( if its the stock motor), unless its the stock 2.0 motor then its just a 4G63
