OK I did a search but could find anything about what width to go with.
which is the better way to go 7.5 or 8 let me know

7.5 inch will hold a 215/40r17 Inch nicely it all depends on what size tires you are running now. You certainly don't want to baloon your sidewalls out if you are running low pro sidewalls or want performance in cornering.

i got 225/40/zr17s on my 1g tsi... they work nicely
