hi, i searched and could not get a straight answer, i found a set of 1g cams today out of a 93, i have a 97, my question is can i use the 1g cam angle sensor instead of tapping a hole on the 1g cam for the 2g sensor? i think it will work if i switch the plug wires around but any help would be appreciated. thanks a lot, steve.

please, anybody?

I don't believe that the 1G CAS will work with a 2G head, I could be wrong about that though. The easiest thing for you to do is get the cam tapped. You should be able to take it to a machine shop and they could do that in no time and they shouldn't charge you very much.

I do know that you can use a CAS off of a 95/96 car. Their CAS are set-up the same way a 1G CAS is, where they have a slot that the CAS fits into the cam instead of it actually threading into the cam.

I did some checking because I was curious to why you were swapping cams, and unless I'm mistaken, I recommend you keep the 2G exhaust cam. From reading the FSM, it looks like the 1G exhaust cam has a shorter duration on the lobes, opening 2* before and closing 6* before the 2G cam does. (1G 244*, 2G 252*)
