hello everyone. The newest problem with my car is it is blowing white smoke out the exhaust. Through research in the forums tells me that it is coolant. It only blows smoke while a make boost starting at 1psi and then stops when i take my foot off the gas or very shortly after. My concern is that it might be my head gasket. Does anyone have any other suggestions at what it might be. Its a brand new turbo less then 100miles on it. The first step i was going to take was the re tighten my head bolts just in case they came lose. Does any body know the tork specs and the patter for tighten them, its a 1990 talon. Any thoughts would be great thank everyone.

LOL "the latest problem on my car is" haha, i like that. that's all too true with DSMs...
anyways, if its only smoking while the turbo is spooling, i'd guess its a bad seal on the turbo

so how do i check to see if i have a bad seal on my turbo it is brand new from bulleye prob like 150miles on it. It wasn't doing it till lately and it doesn't seem to be doing it right now but i haven't got on it above like 4k rpm because its been raining real hard for the past 7 or 8 days. also another problem the car seems to be shuttering real hard after i set my car up in blow through design with maft and 3 inch gm mas, any thoughts on that, thanks again hopefully i can go a full month with out any problems after i fit these small ones

I agree it's probably a turbo issue though a compression test wouldn't hurt.

1. Check for oil in the licp and ic.

2. Check the hot side as well.

3. I'm guessing you're oil feeding from the filter location, many many threads about high oil pressure causing turbo seal failures along with many threads about some bullseyes smoking under 500 miles. Is the balance shaft removed?

4. Make sure the return line is not kinked.

i don't know how bad the smoke is coming out but I have had a similar problem and it was the coolant seal on my turbo the smoke came out a little then when I blew the turbo seal it poured out of the exhaust i would check that first if it is only doing it when you boost more than likely it is your turbo good luck

..."don't bump your thread," "don't bump your thread" wah wah wah.

It's funny how everyone came to knock me for "bumping" so I'll be the first to say,
don't [f]uckin' bump your thread... :thumb:

Is the balance shaft removed?.[/QUOTE]

How does this have anything to do with his white smoke problem? I am just uncertain.

Please fill me in.

Removing the balance shaft will increase the oil pressure from about 60ish psi to 100+psi, this will only matter if he is feeding the turbo from the filter location.

Good to know, thanks

You're welcome.

Also just to make things clear, unburnt oil pouring out of the hot side of the turbo straight to exhaust will seem white with just a tiny hint of blue.
