radiator dummy light??

well, i have a 92 eagle talon tsi, and theres a dummy light coming on, an it looks like a radiator... but im not sure... its like, the second one, right next to the check engine light.. thanks

this light comes on when the coolant level in your radiator overflow bottle becomes low.

so you need to add fluid to your overflow bottle and the light will go out

......... might as well check for why its low, maybe a hole in a hose, etc.

Hey, I drove my car with the radiator light on. I had just got the car and was heading down to a friends house. To me it looked like a box with rails and didnt know until I came home when my mother said its the radiator. I didnt have drop of fluid in my car.

Hey, just bought a 92 and I've been adding coolant almost every day, the radiator is never very warm and the hoses are on fire, engine is hot but doesn't seem to be a blown gasket or head itself, there's no leaks but damn does that coolant bottle boil at the end of my drive home from work, 173k on the motor and it's running really hot when I'm stopped for very long, need help

Replace the thermostat. It's stuck closed.

#1: Do you have a thermostat? Or is it stuck?
#2: Have you checked your cap for leaks?

#1: If the thermostat was removed it will cause the car to run hot when it is not moving. If it is stuck closed it will keep the hot coolant in the motor and cause excessive pressure while the coolant in the radiator will remain cool.

#2: If your cap is bad then all of your coolant will bee shooting into the overflow bottle untill it is full and then onto the ground via the drain tube that goes down from the reservoir cap. After you have run low enough on coolant it will begin to shoot steam into the overflow making it sound like it is boiling.

Start with replacing the thermostat like Knochgoon24 said. If it is in pieces you might want to look into doing a water pump soon. If its still in one piece, then simply replace it.

hey replacing the thermostat friday, and already ordered a water pump so i'm just waiting to see what happens after the thermostat. i've only run the car for 143 miles and every time i get off the highway and even sometimes on the highway. Its more annoying than it is damaging, but today when i got off the highway i opened up the radiator cap and poured some fluid in there, and the fluid was flowing through the thermostat, but it was bubbling when the engine was hot.. sounds like a head gasket, or just the engine wasn't cycling the coolant and was boiling it.. lots of steam, any ideas?
