I need a pic of the steering rack to steering column joint (Where the steering column shaft bolts to the rack pinion shaft). I just swapped a maual rack from a 1.8 into my 1G and the bottom splines of the pinion shaft are still showing, is that how it fits?? A picture would be great!

Hi. We are facing the EXACT SAME dilemma. So we're in the same boat. haha.

I can only get mine on half way, and it's crooked at that. :notgood:

Well I have been driving mine around just fine but I had to use a smaller bolt and nut for the clamp. I stipped out the original trying to put it back in. But what I will do is drill out the threads of the clamp so that I can use the same size bolt as the original, but with a nut on the end. If that makes sense.

I hate to bring this back but...

A few years ago I had removed my rack and pinion. I did not remove the bolt and let it fully slide on. So now (2 years later) the joint is slipping on the rack and pinion shaft :notgood: . If I need to replace the joint can anyone look up (caps?) if that joint is the same on my 1.8 as to the 2.0 and 2.0T cars? I would be very happy.

Thanks for any help
