Not as fuel efficient if I do these minor mods?

Hi I just hacked my dump tube on my 97 GST. I'm planning to get a custom made UIC pipe with 1G bov and an aftermarket intake pipe. These parts will allow my car to breathe better with no air restriction at all.

Gas around my area is sooooo expensive. I was wondering if these mods will make my car not as fuel efficient because my turbo is spoolin faster? Will there be no difference or will it make my car more fuel efficient? I don't know if these minor mods are worth it right now with the gas prices being soooo high.

Thanks in advance.

Anytime you can free up airflow into and out of your motor you will see some sort of MPG incress but not that significant unless it is a very restrictive setup

You'll have your foot into it more often.

Thanks DSM1GRacer!

Defiant, if I have my foot on it often, that means more gas usage? Are you saying MPG won't increase like DSM1GRacer said it would?

You will like the sound, and increased spool time of the new set up so you will more than likely rod on it more and waste more gas, if you can keep your car outta the boost then you will get better gas mileage, I did

What Defiant means is that you'll want to run the car harder (have your foot in it) and will therefore consume more fuel. It's a natural byproduct of modding a car. However, if you made changes and drove it the same, then you would likely see an increase in MPG depending on the mod.

Increase spool time? So that means the turbo will take longer to kick in? That would be a turbo lag, won't that suck? But then again I won't be spoolin as much so mpg GOES UP?

he meant decreased.

With an exhaust and filter my dad pulled down 30 mpg out of my 97 TSi AWD... on the freeway, not running any boost at all.

Yea sorry about that was thinking increased horsepower and decreased spool time lol. Anywayz I pull about alittle less than 30 miles to the gallon, well that was until my o2 sensor went bad now im running really rich until I get that all sorted out.
