I have a 97 GSX and im looking for new rims to put on my car. I want to stick with the stock rim size but im not sure what width can fit my tires. I see 7" and 7.5" widths for rims and im not sure if those will fit my stock tires. please help!

Your statement is one of the most confusing thing i have heard. If i understand right you want to get new rims but use ur old tires. Well the GSX comes with 215/50/17 on a 17x6.5" i would go with a 17x7 rim.
