Should i get another DSM 7-bolt crankshaft and put that in or swap in a 6-bolt??

How hard is the actual CAS wiring to do??
I've seen the diagram in the sites but i don't understand it, can any knowing mechanic do it??

I had a DSM mechanic quote me around $600 for the swap because he had to "wire something in the ingition"

I'm even thinking of just getting the RRE wiring harness but it's $80 bucks :(

Thanks

from what i understand, you can't just swap the 6-bolt crankshaft by itself. i think you'll also need the short block.

I'd say go with the 6 bolt. The CAS wiring is a cinch. Nothing to it really. You have 4 wires. You'll use the power and ground off of one of your sensors to power the CAS. Then the other two wires will provide the signal for your crank sensor plug and cam sensor plug. I can't think of anything that you would need to "wire into the ignition." You do have to change the plug order and changing pins on the ECU is recommended. It's a great way to learn about your car too.

Hey RACE94, don't forget to double check your rods and caps for fitment. Have you asked your mechanic about re-grinding/polishing your existing crank or is it that bad? You can get a re-grind and replacement bearings for under $200.00.
