Which Aftermarke Air Filter? K&N? eBay? [Merged 11-7]

Does anybody know where I can get a new Injen Air Filter? I want to get a new one because mine is getting too dirty to clean.

Just out of curiousity, how do you like the ingen compared to say, a k&n? I am about to get the intake and am trying to decide if I should just go with the ingen set (the one with the pipe and the filter), or just the pipe, and order a k&n seperate...

Injen intake works really well, it was my first mod when I got the car. I can't compare it to the K&N because I never used the K&N filter. I would think that it would as good or even better than the Injen air filter. Just my .02

i might be able to get one for you but Ill tell you ahead of time they arent cheap.. they are around 60 dollars just for the filter.. I sell them for the Celica and Im sure I can get a price from Injen for the mitsu one.. email me at [email protected] if yer interested

i have one for sale with chopped air can. New filter charger about 70 bucks canadian.

K&N's are reusable, selling mine with a chopped aircan (1G) $40 canadian.

As for performance gains, turbo spools up quicker and a slight increase in throttle response, horsepower wise, I dunno, around 10 horses.

in the non-turbo you do feel a little kick, esecially if you chop the air can up. the car breathes better, and the filter costs about 45 bucks new plus about an hour to mess with the air can. totally worth it!!! I think you get about 5-7 extra horses in a NT..

Thanks ALOT man thats what i been wonderin...so by chopping up the air can u mean that plastic thing that covers the airfilter???...is there a special way to do it?......ummm do u have any pics for me to go by?... thank you very much

the air can is the box the air fliter sits in. mine is made out of metal but my car is a 1.8 so i guess 2.0's are plastic. that should be even easier to cut up than. I mean you can just chop the whole box up as long as the filter still sits tight. the point is to let the most possible air in since our aircans are crazy restrictive. I am pretty sure either dsm.org or one of the other links have pictures for it. some people also take out the silencer to make it sound even better. Good luck and measure everything right beforehand cuz it's a b**ch looking for a new can if you mess up!!

I simply removed the air can totally. The clamps that hold the two pieces together hold the filter in just fine. The only drawback is the intercooler tube mounts to the top of the aircan, but I had planned on purchasing a one piece, they are a lot less restrictive. What were they thinking when they made the intercooler tube out of about four different types of plastic and metal?

My 2.0 N/A was a simple removal. The can clips hold the filter on fairly well, and it's only got 3 bolts holding it down.

what brand(s) make a cone style filter for the 2gs? i want to do a short ram style intake, but dont want to buy the wrong filter.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if installing a K&N filter could harm the MAS in any way. I heard from somewhere that the oil on the filter somehow can screw with sensorsI was thinking about putting one in but I thuoght I would be safe and ask before I spend 35 bucks.

the best thing about the k&n is that it is literally, the last air filter you will ever have to buy for the car when it gets dirty, 20 minutes and a reoil and it's good as new! though, when it's a little bit dirty it actually filters a little bit better

You can have the filter SOAKED and dripping in the mineral oil, and no harm will occur.... I have done it...
