Anybody know of a good DSM shop around central Iowa?

XS Tech used to be in Ames but I think they shut down. I dont really know of any other reputable shops in the DSM area.

Well, I recently put on a fair amount of bolt-ons, got it back, and almost immediately came up with head problems. I pulled the valve cover and several rockers were loose, with one rocker bearing broken on the intake side, and roller bearings lying around inside of the valve cover. Long story short, I need head work, and I'll probably upgrade my internals at the same time. I don't want to take it to some random **** mechanic in Des Moines (already had problems with that one), so a DSM shop would have been preferable. I may just end up spending a lot of time this winter with my good friend Hayne's. =) .. any help would be appreciated though, although the old Des Moines-Mason City's a bit of a hike. PM me anyway, if you'd like to help out, this sounds like it'll be a fun winter project.

It sounds like you need to jump on Dragsource.com and ask around there. There are a number of DSM'ers on there and somebody will be able to direct you to a reputable DSM mechanic.

1gp0wer -- I live in Mason City/Clear Lake, I'm here in Iowa City at the U of Iowa. There aren't any real 'DSM' shops in North Central IA, my friends and I just always did the work ourselves...

If all you need some general work done I recommend Norris Automotive in Indianola. Brent is the lead troubleshooting tech there and he is an ASE Master technician. He even teaches classes at DMACC. He is not afraid to touch modded cars. He has a LASER that they have been playing with. That is the ONLY place I will take any of my cars (if I don't have time to work on them.)
