I searched the forums but no luck. What size are the bolts for the heat shield that goes over the exhaust maifold. The upper one. I am missing the front bolt and noticed that when i ran a can of seafoam through my engine that some of the gas was coming out of that hole. I want to go ahead and just plug it up with a bolt. I have no shop manual so i am asking here.

you are leaking exhaust gas from the hole that you put the heat shield bolt into?

if so you have a problem with your exhaust manifold.

and i am not sure what size it is but remeber that the most important part of the size of a bolt it the size of the area where the threads are and the pitch of the threads it doesn't really matter what size the head is

yeah.. maybe i should just go ahead and take off the heat shield and inspect the manifold for cracks.. plus i could compare the other bolts to see the size

David,

The bolts you are talking about are 8mm X 1.25mm. I know this cause I just had to drill out a broken bolt for my heat shield and tap new threads. Here is what I was working on whne the bolt broke.
