WHen using the Prothane inserts in the motor mounts, do the old rubber ones need to be pressed out? OR Can I install them in my garage with standard hand tools?

Cut your losses before they start. Haul the mounts to a shop and pay them to press them. It's well-worth the little bit it costs.
