AC Recharge on 1G
For the life of me, I cannot find a point where I can add refrigerant on my car. Can anyone shed some light this situation, please?
Thanks, Steve

Low pressure is on the compressor, high pressure is on the output hose just after where it turns to a hard pipe.
Are you staying with R-12, or converting?

Defiant,
Thanks for your response. I am sticking with R-12 at the moment (my father-in-law has some in the garage). I will probably convert later and seek professional assistance with that.
Is the compressor down by the timing belts? I couldn't quite locate that sucker.
Thanks, Steve

Ouch--I better get some kid from up the block to reach down in there to make the connection. Any tricks I should know about to get down in there, or am I just thinking it is going to be worse than it really is?
Thanks again for your help.
Steve

it shouldn't be that bad, the fitting is right on the top of the compressor.
It is a bit of a reach, but you shouldn't have to remove anything else to make it.
I'll check back, let me know how you made out - see if you had any problems.
I just recharged mine (also converted to R134) and I have like 60PSI of pressure in there, and there are no leaks, no blown fuses, and I can't get the damn compressor to kick in for some reason!
I'll check back a bit later, good luck!

Are you using an R12 Gauge Manifold?
Wear Gloves and screw the coupler down very quickly

I still haven't found the lowside valve. I'll have to have someone else look, maybe my eyes are just missing it. I'll get back soon.

Autozone sells conversion kits for like 25 bucks, comes with a full recharge as well. It's very easy and unless you're worried about breaking the law, you can do it yourself in about a half an our.
