I don't think it is impossible if you stop and such... Keep extra fluids with you and a tool kit? why not ship it?

I bought my 97 GST Spyder in FL, I live in Central IL, the way back my oil sending unit went bad... which the oil pressure gauge dropped and scared the shit out of me, but other than that it was a fun trip...

that trip was 1300 miles...

Where's the car coming from?

I'd do it, but there are ugly rumors to the effect that I'm completely mad.

Don't do it to a schedule, just go. Take a co-driver if you can. Careful where you park at night, disable it when you sleep (pull a fuse or two) and don't leave bait in the car. Hell, even if it blows up on you, you're young enough to appreciate the adventure.

I did a delivery of a '71 LTD from Milpitas to Butler, PA one time.

I took a Vespa scooter from Orinda across the Bay Bridge and into San Francisco. And I drove an Audi 100LS from SF to Napa with no brakes.

Okay, so I am completely mad.

But I have a good time.

I live in Southern Indiana and i drove 800 miles to michigan to pick up my 98 talon. It was in excelent shape though with only 55k, so the ride back home was actually better then the ride up.

Oh I drove up in a 89 chevy berretta GT, It broke down around gary and cost me 200 to fix. I'm glad I will never have to drive that car again. P.O.S.

That will be fun.

If the car really is in good shape you should have no problem. I would make sure the previous owner had the major maint done.

I have been using the 1G as a DD and put over 500 miles communting a week, and almost 4,000k total on it since early March.

Just give youself plenty of time, and enjoy the ride if you get there early cool. If you just want to drive, and not play, being conservative you should be able to do 500-700 miles a day easy. If you want to be hard corp you can do more. Get some maps and plan your route based on how far/long you want to drive each day. Buy a cheapo tent, some food, and camp at KOA or state campground in the evening. Make sure you have basic maint items (hose, fuses ,some fluids, spare has air, etc) and tools.

Really the worst part is gonna be that the majority of that drive is boring scenery the begining and end are oki though. It will seem lilke you are never goign to get out of TX. It just goes on and on..... Oh if you have never seen tumbleweeds, and road runners not to mention armadillos I guess you can stay entertained from west tx on.

The very first driving I did in my car was bring it back from Oklahoma. It was a 1300 mile drive. I have since taken several road trips. I live in MD and I have gone to North Carolina, half way to Massachusettes (Don't ask), various places in PA ranging from 100-250 miles away, and deep into Virginia (250 miles or so). Never had a break down. I did have a misfire for a brief moment, but it turned out to just be time for spark plug replacement and a $30 used coil pack.
