dsm meet in Des Moines,Iowa?

hey everyone im looking for a dsm meet in DesMoines, Iowa. i am willing to throw one together or show up for one already planned, i have had my 1g for about a month and i am looking to see what other people are doing, pointers, and meeting new people who love boost. am up for any ideas, DesMoines has many good places for a drive, and many places for a barbq or something like that, i havnt seen very many dsms in desmoines, but there is alot of hondas so dsms need to make a foot print in desmoines, so hit me up everyone lets get something going PLEASE!!!!

yeah we've been thinking about holding another meet soon. Actually, July 11 in Marshalltown, there will be a autox event that alot of us dsms will be going to.

ive been throwing around the idea of a bbq at ledges for awhile, but with the constant rain and high humidity it would get unbearable after awhile at this time. but probably the best would be the m-town auto-x to meet up (theres gonna be a crap load of mustangs too ) then some drag racing in cedar falls later that night.

well im up for anything, im trying to stay away from events right now becasue just got my car and i am still working out the kinks, and my syncros are out of 1st 2nd and 3rd, so im leaning more towards a barbeque/ swap meet for parts what is ledges?

so far theres been no talk yet. at this point everyones so busy its hard to sync people schedule. hopefully ill be having the end of july, beginning of august off for my sister coming out for a couple weeks so MAYBE we can shoot for sometime then if everyones interested and free

NQS Performance is sponsoring their 2nd autocross in their series of 4 events on July 11th. This is a great autox location that is very easy and forgiving for beginners and great fun for all drivers! Asshanson, GST-Spyder, Sax-man, and myself will all attest to how fun this course is. The course is really amazing because there are no cones! You just follow the road as fast as you can -- like a small road course!

The Autocross registration will start at 8:00 and racing starts at 9:00. The event should conclude at around 3:00 to 4:00 or whenever we get all the runs we want -- and you will get as many as you want!

The same day is the RevHard Midnight Madness at Cedar Falls Raceway. This event's gates open at 8:00 pm and racing starts at 9:00 pm. Racing will go until about 1:00 am.

I would like to combine these events into a fun filled day of DSM PWNage! It is a 1:20 drive from Marshalltown to Cedar falls. Since the gates to Cedar Falls Raceway don't open until 8:00 we could grill it up, cruise, hit a restaraunt, or whatever.

I plan on getting a hotel room because after the races (1:00am) i probably will not want to drive 1 1/2 hours north to home.

If any of you guys are interested in meeting up, head to the Marshalltown International Raceway at 8:00am or show up later to spectate!

Admission for the autocross is $25 and admission for the Midnight Mania at the Drag Strip is $20 for racers and $8 for spectators (i think).

august is kinda messy with the All-Mitsu grillout in Rogers, MN on the 23rd and DSM Shootout on the 15th and 16th. not to mention that the next Iowa Region autocross at Marshalltown is on the 2nd, the next NQS Marshalltown autocross is also on the 15th, and there are Des Moines valley autocrosses at the Oskaloosa airport on the 9th and Iowa Speedway on the 16th. We would almost have to shoot for the 8th or the 29th. You guys could go for the 1st as well (i have a wedding to go to that day). I could definitely go for a grillout at ledges on the 8th or 9th. could that work for everyone else?

i was thinking more of one of the last days in august like the 30th or something or first weekend in september, i woul dlove to hit the autox events ut like i posted unless i can get a tranny rebuild or find someone with a good tranny for sale, i will haft to sit those out i dont want to risk having the tranny in my daily driver laying in pieces on a track in a different town at whatever time at night, if i had a good tranny or a rebuild i would be all for it.

autocross is alot of stop and go, not so much beating on your tranny like drag racing. at least show up an check it out. Co-drivers are also allowed if you can talk a friend into going!

I'll be showing up for the 11th as well, got it off work and everything! And I hope you guys are happy, because that means I'm only getting 13 hours total next week. I'm splitting a room with Matt in Cedar Falls, because I'm not driving back to MN at 1am.

Greg, by all means show up on the 11th, if not to run your car, to hang out. You don't even have to spend the entire day with us, but it would be nice to see a new face. I can honestly say that the best part about owning a Mitsu is the community, and if you're not going out of your way to hang out with fellow DSMers, you're missing literally half the fun.

As for August, I'm already planning to take one full weekend off, and I guarantee it won't go over well for me to take two, so I'm going to go ahead and say I can't make anything besides the events that Matt's already listed, plus two autox events up here on the 2nd and 16th. It's always the busiest month of the season, so it's almost pointless to try to plan anything, you'll never get even half the turnout you'd get any other month.

And Kyle, your wording above makes it sound like you're gonna come out and autox. Way to finally be a man!

ok i will try for the 11th but i dont think im going to make it because i just had a new problem come up, i changed my oil yesturday and the pan is all messed up from the previous owner and the drain plug wont tighten anymore so she is leaking oil, and on top of that my bleeder type mbc is not working properly, so i need to find a pan today, so if anyone has one laying around that i can buy pm me asap or text me at 515-661-0507 i am looking to get a new pan today, please someone help

if you need a MBC, i have one from dejon that im probably never going to use. its a dual stage (not sure if lo-hi or med-hi) for $50. you could just try and find someone to re-thread it for you too, but there should still be a turbo laser in the boxholm u-pull-it place that may have a good pan.

i found a pan in the classifieds and its only 40 with overnight shipping so i should get that today, and i found a diagram of how to properly hook up a bleeder type mbc, so hopefully that all works out good, but ya sorry guys im not going to make it on the 11th
