Im currently trying to find someone who is experienced tuning AEM EMS on DSMS.... I have called a few places and everyone wants like ~450 to tune an AEM which i think is ridiculous.... so that being said if there is anyone in the area who is looking to making a little money and knows how to tune an AEM please PM me thanks.

Hell, I'll do it for free just to get the chance to use the AEM EMS. I need to learn how to tune. First things first however. I need to read up. So if you got a user manual for the EMS, PM and I'll give you my email.

I would reccomend that you stay away from Extreme Motorsports. They blew up my friend's 1g and sent him home. But i know the tuner for ISP and he is pretty good. He runs EMS on his own car (98 GSX that runs 9's). And has tuned countless cars with EMS and various others. So i would give them a call.

His name is Brad Brooks, he is a very nice guy and knows his tuning. He is in Springfield as well and has been know to do some street tuning. If you want a good job and someone to trust your car with hit him up. I know he is up at ISP a lot tuning but can be found at some other shops tuning.

check your pms

Thank you for all your help guys I will be giving a call to brad soon to see what he thinks. The guy I bought my car from did got all his work and tuning done from ARFABRICATION. has anyone heard of them as to their reputability and knowledge? I called and they said it would be 370 to tune the car @ 22 PSi up from the 16 it is currently tuned at... does this seem like a good deal? I am a noob to the Tuning and DSM world.
Thanks in advance for all your help

john, I'm looking to get my car tuned also. Let me know when you plan to do this and maybe I can tag along. Maybe we can get a two fer deal.

Chris

Are you saying you dont know shit about tuning with these products and want to "learn" on other's cars? I would stay far away from that alternative.

Good call, yes thats exactly what I am saying! :thumb:

You know absolutely jack sh*t about me. Allow me to make you look an an a*s. First look at this chart (linked from www.payscale.com). This is the average income by age group as conducted by a survey.

This is the paycheck from the last week. (Click the picture to enlarge it).

Now I want to point some things out to you. First name(s) high-lighted in yellow. Compare that to my sig and you will see that they are the same. Next I would like to draw you to my job title (in green): Eng - Sr SY, that stands for Senior System Engineer. Now lets look at the pay. Everything is highlighted in red. First, look at the pay period. It is only 2 weeks. Next, lets take a look at my hourly pay; $35.10 an hour. That brings my gross pay to $3018.60 for only 2 WEEKS!!! Of that I get taxed $677.92. It's a safe bet to say that you probably don't even make that in 2 weeks. So it would be safe to say "I pay more taxes then your paycheck." I actually get paid about $73,000 a year. That is nearly 200% of the 18-25 group!!

I don't have a bachelors degree, I don't even have an associates!! I make this kind of money because I proved to my company (BAE Systems), that I'm worth it.

I currently manage 6 networks with WELL over a 1000 servers nationwide and tens of thousands of workstations in a team of about 6 and 1 intern (who, lets face it, slows us down more then anything).

I learned everything that I know by doing extensive research before putting my hands on
something. I have been doing research and I even ordered book on tuning theory.

Lastly I would like to show you this picture.

You think you can judge me without knowing sh*t about me.

Go f*ck yourself. No need to englarge that one.

On the other hand, I will charge you.

You can do whatever you want, it is your car and I understand if you are not comfortable with someone inexperienced tuning your car, but I can ensure your I will tune more conservatively then aggressive. I feel that reliability is more important then high horsepower (at least for a street driven car).

And another point I must make, I've seen a motor get toasted due to a bad tune from a shop, so taking it to a shop does not make guarantee a good tune. My buddy lost $600 and his motor.

I think you took that comment a little to personally. Most would like to have thier car tuned by a reputable tuner for sake of their motors. No one is questioning your technical ability, just your lack of experience. We all dont make as much as you, (including me) and cant afford to repair something because of a learning error during tuning.

P.S. Congrats on the well paying job. Looks like you worked hard to get there.:thumb:

Laserspeeddemon,
I havent had access to my computer that has the AEM software and my works server for some reason blocks me from PMing but once I get to my laptop I will send you the files and you can read up on the AEM and further your knowledge. I actually ran into a buddy at work who tunes AEM only on the side so he actually is tuning it for my tonight, however, if you want to check out my car and AEM we can meet up sometime and you can play around with it and check out everything.

Thanks for your help

I don't call people out without a good reason. That is VERY disrespectful. And if someone had a good reason to call me out, then I just accept the fact that I was wrong.

I make a lot of money, but I have a lot of bills. My rent alone is close to $2000 a month so that almost half my check right there. Other bills pile up and usually the left over money I have, I give to my wife or my 2 kids, my wife and I go out for family night. I have priorites above my car. I would tune conserative and remove fuel as I go until i get the desired A/F ratio (depending on knock) and then advance timing until I get knock and then take it few clicks back. Even in the event I blew the motor. I would offer one of the two spare 6-bolts that I have in return. I wouldn't live them hanging.

Would it be ok if I just tagged along? Even if I don't actually do the tuning I could sit and watch him work. On tap of that I got a brand new AEM wideband 02, I'm not using yet. I could let you use it while he tunes. And then, take it back when he is done. I beleive you can plug it in to the EMS to log as well.

Let me know. I'm

I'll PM you my numbers.

Are you saying you dont know shit about tuning...

It looks like a simple yes or no would have worked fine.

How does a good paying job have anything to do with tuning a DSM? At least I know if you blow up an engine you should have the funds to be able replace it.

It's called technical aptitude, big companies don't pay well for people that don't know anything.

But if you like you can go to MachV. It's $100/hr for the dyno, another $35/hr for the sniffer, and another $80/hr for someone to tune. Or go to Extreme Motorsports, they charge $140 JUST for an hour on the dyno. You'll be lucky if you walk away from it under $500 and having a decent tune. A fellow DSMer in the area dropped over $9000 with Extreme and they could only pull out 325+ awhp with a tune. He brought it over and I found boost leaks. The sad part is Extreme had installed their OWN FMIC kit and they still f*cked it up. After I fixed it I told him not to go WOT because the tune is now going to be lean. Since more air is getting through. Once he got it back to Extreme (which I advised against) they blew his motor, because they threw it on the dyno and it leaned out, knock went to shit and bye bye rod.

Tjuiceman4 and I met last night. I downloaded the EMS software and I will be dicking with it over the next week on my own computer.

John we need to get you those NM plates so you don't have to worry about VA emissions. I'll see what I can look about the process.

Yeah that would be awesome I cant stand this emissions crap LOL and I will be getting a wideband 02 soon so we can hopefully get a little better read out of my car....
