Yes i need some advice on what is the best belt to use? OEM or aftermarket Kevlar? Maybe tell me some of the belts you have used or are using? Also i want to know if i should put a new water pump? A friend said said its not leaking so don't fix it? Any advice? I have a new tensor in box from Mitsubishi. Also should i get new pulleys? I told him i need to replace them but he don't believe me and i am second guessing myself now. :thumb:

It's simply called: do you want to replace a WP AFTER the belt install?

I'd do the full changeout if it was me on a belt change - including belt, pulleys, WP, tensioner.

Do the job once and be done with it after the covers are all put back on.

Belts: seen OEM and Kelvar on both installs - your pick.

I would say OEM belt. Never heard anything about breaking from high power levels. Definitely replace tensioner and all pullies (OEM only). You will regret it if you cheap out on timing components!

As for the water pump, if you have the motor out, I would probably do it. Cheap insurance, depending on the mileage on the current one.

Edit: Looks like someone beat me to the punch ^^^

As a rule of thumb people here replace the water pump when doing the main timing belt. Imagine you did the mtb, and 4k miles later the water pump takes a dump. You have the take off the mtb AGAIN LOL Better safe then sorry. Always use the oem water pump. That goes for the majority of the things on the car anyway. As for which timing belt, some people say oem, some say the gates racing one, some say greddy. Those are all good choices, in the end, you'll decide.

-.- gosh both of you beat me to it LOL

I am doing a whole rebuild and yea i want to do it once and do it right. I am going to use all OEM parts like pulleys, tensor, belts, water pump. But will OEM handle a 500hp build? And i plan on doing more mods.
