Hey guys, my left radiator fan is making a hilariously sad sounding whining noise, so i figure its a bearing or something and am just going to replace the whole fan. Anyway, I looked around on ebay and found this one

10" Univeral Slim/Thin Radiator Cooling Fan With Mounting Kit | eBay

Specs:

12 Volts

< 5 Amp Draw

S-Blade Construction

Height: 11"

Width:11.75"

Depth: 2.5"

My question is this: even though those dimensions are a little bigger than the standard radiator fans for 1st gen DSM's, do you think it will still fit? I figure since its universal it probably will, but im just trying to be careful. Also, anyone had experience with this brand? Many thanks

Non turbo 1g's are a dime a dozen at the local junk yard. I suggest just grabbing that instead of going through the hassle of modding your wiring and then finding out the fan is crap.

I would, in fact, my brother flipped his GSX (hes actually a member here, or was) and his is at a junkyard so i could use it, but
1. The junkyard totally rips you off. Theyd probably charge me 30-40 for one fan
2. Fans arent something i like to get off of another car, they're too complicated to reliably gauge how much time they have left.

I just got a crazy idea. What if i just swapped the a/c fan and radiator fan? The a/c motor, or compressor, or something is broken on my car, and it doesn't work, so i dont really need the a/c fan. Would that work?

i really doubt a junkyard would charge you that much, just take you a few basic tools, pull it and im guessing they'll charge like $10 at the most, like mentioned above n/t 1g dsm's are a dime a dozen, find the one that looks in best shape and go for it

You would rather take a chance with an e-bay one that can possibly short something out due to being cheaply made in China? If you want a legit one - invest the extra cash for a name brand one. Junkyards are worth it for these reasons: they're super cheap, they are fun to go to, and you can exchange it back for another one if it doesn't work. Just don't say we didn't tell you so when you're here asking about the fuse box or wiring not working correctly.
