Hey all,
I have a question about the way the 14b and 16g turbos seal oil in. I've got a newish big 16g that was leaking oil. The oil was ending up going through my UICP and sitting in the intercooler. When I take the intake tube off the compressor inlet, I can see oil pooling in the flange.
So I pulled it apart and found that the o-ring on the compressor side had a tiny nick in it, maybe twice as thick as a piece of paper. You can see a photo of it below. The thing in the upper left sticking off the seal is a small piece that has been sort of chopped off and just hanging on a bit.
Everything else inside this turbo is flawless, no wear on anything as would be expected from a turbo with maybe 1000 miles on it. My question is this, unless this seal leaks, there is no way for oil to get into the compressor housing, correct?
