Water pump freeze plug.

I need to know what kind of plug and what size goes into the water pump. I had bad anti freeze and while driving it popped out. I think the coolant was frozen.

Just measure it.

I did.. Brought the vernier caliper down to the parts store and they told me they couldnt find the rite one. I would like to know if my measurements were rite. I measured an inch and 3/16s.

If they don't have it they don't have it. You just gotta find a store that does. Maybe try 1.25" if that's not too absurd to make the edges compress when it's put in.

CarQuest has a box of those little goddamnits, had to find special sized little freeze plugs for the off-centered drainbacks on the 4g64 block

CarQuest seemed to be the only one with assorted plugs. If they say they don't have it, nag them. The guy at the counter told me they didn't until someone else came back with the box.

Any freeze plug will do, either a copper one or a steel one. they both work the same(copper would be the better option though). You can atually use a rubber freeze plug to make things easier but I woudn't really recomend that cus It might just go in to far in and block the coolant from flowing.

If your having a hard time measuring just go to an auto parts store, ask the guy to do you a favor and pull out a water pump for your car and then just match one of from whatever they have in stock.

Thanks for the help. The duct tape held for about 5 minutes. But yeah carquest was the only place with the right plug. It drove right in real easy and all is well and pump seems to be good still.
