I read a few different opinions on what fastening sequence should be used when fastening the 10 headbolts of a 4G63. This week I will put the cilinderhead on my block again with new ARP's and I am curious what is seen as the best procedure.

According to the FSM:

<-----Camshaft sprocket side

..8 6 1 3 9
10 4 2 5 7

Tighten in 2 to 3 steps. I hand tightened them all in sequence then did 20,50,80 with ARP moly lube, which gives more accurate torque readings then 30wt oil. Retorque after 5 heat cycles.

Yeah go by the manual if you have one or buy yourself a haynes manual. That should give you all the info you need.

You should start from the inside out in a criss cross pattern. And follow the torquing procedure from ARP in three step.

Make sure you don't drench the studs in the lube or oil, whatever you're using, because it will drip down to the bottom, creating a pocket and youre torque spec will be off.
