i didn't know where to post this but here it is...........
hey i have a dilemma,,,,i have a tsudo 3in cat-back on my awd 2g....i got pulled over ### its to loud...so i took off the can like muffler that it came with and put a dynomax turbo muffler but i still got pulled over..wut can i do to make it quieter other then putting my stock piping??????

Resonator before the can, I agree with, but another solution is look at FlowMaster's . I can't recall if it is 40 or 60 series muffler. Thank goodness we don't have the sound police here. They did in Colorado Springs, Co. I would never get around the block without some bonding time with LEO's (local law enforcement).

LOL try running open down pipe for a day and see if the sound police dont stop you hahah. Just add a resonator before the can and you should be good also spray the muffler with flat black paint and you will be in stealth mode at night. I have a cheap ebay exhaust and ever since I painted it no cop has even bothered to pull me over.

quote ( install a resonator before your can it will help keep the noise down a bit without restricting the flow i run them on my 1gb and my 2gb both full 3" turbo back never had a problem with the police
Vibrant Performance ::.)

so should i put two bottle style resonators or one of each

i put a dynomax muffler already..i dont have the can one anymore

the muffler looks stock ...it the noise level..i mean its not excessive but cops here dont have anything better to do here....

^^^^^and i thought that the cops here in cali where bad.

I would goto a local shop and ask them what they think you should get.
no say you have to buy it from them just find out what they think since they deal with it more.

If it still has the stock downpipe and cat try taking it to a police station and have them actually test the sound level. If it passes you can have them write out a slip and show that every time the police or judge question you.

already went to court and i asked about that and said that its up to the police to decide if its to loud or not plus they say its illegal to modifie the exaust system. they know i have three inch pipe because this last time i was pulled over i ntold them i changed the muffler.. the cop looked under the car and said i have three inch pipe and i need to change it back....this is my fourth time getting pulled over for this but only got a ticket the first time. but i bet im not ganna get lucky anymore..:banghead:

if nothing else i would throw a nice resonator on there. maybe just use the cutout idea for the exhaust. probably save a little money in the long run

I wouldnt put the cat back on, it shouldnt really be that much louder without it on there.
I would just try to see if there is any leaks around the weld on the muffler you put in...
or make sure you have the proper exhaust gaskets on your fittings.

get a 3in dp and get an electrically controlled exhaust dump then run stock behind the dump and open it when u want and close it when u see the po po's

The muffler mentioned would be a much more cost efficient way and I saw the videos of it installed on another thread and it seems to be a pretty nice solution to the noisy exhaust problem.

My friend had a 2 3/4 exhaust on his eclipse and we completly dropped it out from under the car and bought another sound dampener and another muffler and cut out pieces of the exhaust.... so we basicaly dampened the sound closer to the front of the car (right behind the cat we place the sound dampener and four inches behind that we placed the muffler) and we put the can type muffler back on (we cut ours off as well) after we did all of that the car put out about half the sound that it did befor which kind of takes away the fun and adds a little weight to the car but its better that getting a ticket. you have to have a welder to do this and depending on what material you exhaust is made out of you may need to tig weld it

put that fast breather stock boy exhaust back on. that crap sure is quiet.

So your saying they would pull over a Mustang GT for being to loud? That's silly shit. I would file harassment charges. Next time you get pulled over, get the last words in by saying "I know why you mad". ROFL
