Ok so i really don't know much about motors. I've always been a huge fan of the DSM's and have decided that its almost time for me to begin my build up. I currently have a spyder 2.4 non turbo that i want to either build up or swap out. My goal is to reach as close to or above 500hp as possible. Since I'm a motor noob I'm not even sure if i should build up the 2.4 it swap for the 2.0. I would assume the 2.4 to be a better choice but i just don't see as many people doing that on the forums. I would first like to know which motor to build followed by a complete list of what i will need to reach my set goal. I know there is a lot of choices when it comes to parts and I'm not certain how much all if this will cost since I'm going to have to pay someone to do all the work for me. I'm far from rich and a father of 2 but i want to get started piece by piece. Someone said about $5,000 should get it done but I'm always looking for the best deals. So if you say i need xxxxx, please link to what that item is or which brand you would recommend. If its too much trouble i understand. I'm just trying to get some help, not catch a free ride. Believe me, if i knew someone that was a total expert and could collect the parts and build it all for me i would probably take that route. just give me an estimate and a time frame followed by a 500hp spyder and if be happy. Lol. There's a good chance i could drop all the cash at once if it was reasonable. Feel free to chime in anytime guys. I'll be checking back often. Also looking for an AWD conversion and disc brake conversion. Thx guys! Happy fathers day to all daddys out there!

Of course, start with maintenance as a first & important, before anything else! The links below should shine a little light to the surface and get you going. Hopefully a (4G64/Stoker GURU) chimes in and answers all your questions....

Thank you for the info. It will surely help me yes. I'm able to at least get an idea of what i need to be on the lookout for. Thx again!

500 hp in these cars is around a 10 second ride, not sure if that will be doable with 5k...especially if you're wanting a motor swap included.
