Here is what you do if:

1. You own a beater 90 GSX for a commuter with 189K.
2. Have a 46" Mitsubishi TV to haul
3. Lack a truck
4. Built your own 2 inch receiver hitch
5. Built a hitch tote to go with the hitch
6. and are a TRUE ENTHUSIAST....

And no, that not me in the pic, just a friend along to help move the TV!

Not that I'd do it - but it's hella creative!!!

Thanks. The tote works great for hauling just about anything you could think of from your DSM. Wheels, trannies, motors, doors, etc.

Don't let the ricers see that. They'll think it's some new combination of downforce and in-car entertainment. :D

your car pwnz me. I think we have the exact same t3/t4's (your's e-trim?).

id be willing to bet a ricer would throw sum vtec and type R dtickers on their so that added weight would cancel out.

Good thinking, but how legal is that to tow things like that?

BlackViper

Legal? Just like towing another car or trailer. I had a set of lights I put on the roof. Like those a tow truck uses, with the magnetic base.

No sense in paying a salvage yard to come get it when I can tow it there!!

You should haul busted down hondas with that

Ahhhemmmm....... yes I routinely find the need to haul import carnage away on the weekends after I pick em off during the week. Plenty of time on my commute of 80 miles a day. :D

NO MERCY:thumb:

Jokes aside, I bet that TV doesn't work after towing it like that. If it does then you've witnessed some kind of miracle. My Sony projection TV did not like the last move and the slightest jolt getting it in the house f**ked the pincushion circuit. So I've been dealing with a picture that curls up at the top right and down at the bottom right for a while. Got an HD projector on the way but damn, these TVs are fragile.

Simply put......... you CANT buy one this strong. I built it myself. Along with the hitch tote.

The hitch utilizes a 2" receiver. Mounts to the unibody via four bolts. I used material I already had. I'd estimate it would cost no more than $100 in material. And the time and know how on contructing it. Seriously, the one you can get from UHaul is a POS. This is equivlent to a class three. Of course, it exceeds the capability of the car, but hey, do it once and do it right!! If anyone is intersted, I could get pics of it. I just recently put on on my 310K mile GSX and towed another GSX 1500 miles cross country using a towbar. I also have a modified front bumper for a towbar setup. Very handy.

The hitch tote is similiar. Heavliy made. Could probably hold 500lbs+ easy. Enough that it would exceed the capacity of the hitch. (equivilent tongue weight) I don't readily have another pic of the hitch tote and just my car but on the pic below you can see I have just a jack on it. There is a vertical bar that attaches to keep objects off the back of the car. (Works awesome for hauling tires........ track tires? forget ever having to haul them in the back hatch again!!)

For anyone interested. I have a similar hitch for a NT car for sale. Includes all hardware to mount it PM if interested.

damn, that is badass. LOL. Just picture going down the freeway with the tv on the back and all that damn bugs hittin' the screen.. (watch out for the RAIN)

OR...

If you were living somewhere nice like Miami, during the summer, you should built a trailer at the back with a hot-tub, full of hot, sexy chicks sittin' it wearing bikinis ;)
