a wrecked tsi awd 95 2g, a non-wrecked tsi 95 2g.
2 91 tsi awd's...
yes, we drove it across the state like that.
in case the pic is deceiving, that is not a car dolly, just strapped the front end to the trailer and drug the back end.
most of this stuff was (not the white 1g, i had it already) was in a farmers field, he wanted to have it crushed, value of these by weight for recycling at the crusher, aprox. 1200$.... time frame, 2 days, mileage, about 200...one way. problems... MANY.
pickup, BORROWED
trailer, BORROWED
time, as far as the wife was concerned, BORROWED, and indebted.
THE PLAN: after talking to the guy he seems to know his stuff, and is quite sure the grey 1g needs an ECU and it will run. well i have one so i figure what the heck, drive one back and haul one and arse drag one. 1 trip, heck of a drive but in the long run it will be worth it. anyone on here ever have good luck when making decisions based on educated guesses or semi-unknowns??? well a charged battery and an ecu in the grey 1g, it cranks all day ling but never even tries to fire. some field diagnostic leads to a no fuel no start. trouble shooting shows no power at the pump. the fuses are NOT the culprit. no parts are available for these cars in a several hundred mile radius. shift gears to at least loading what we can on to the trailer.
MICE! in the cars, under the cars, up my pant leg, FRIGIN everywhere. the drive home with the 2g hanging off the back was LOOONG. any faster then 55 and the trailer got to whippin back and forth so bad it about drug us off the road. we bumped the white one out into my friends yard and he has had his cats working on it for a week now, they about got most the mice out. i use to be a profesional auto detailer and body guy. i can get it clean, but man i don't know how bad i want too. on the way to his house on the dirt road the white car tail whipped so bad it broke a chain loose and took off toward the ditch. luckily it hit the short side rail on one side of the trailer and the chain across from it grabbed just before the car came all the way off.
the maroon car we drug off with a pickup and the guys that blew it up are working on stripping the drivetrain parts off that i need for the awd swap on the white car. it is full of mice too but its not my problem.
the silver 1g in my drive has a pump and pump rewire kit ready to be installed. hopefully this weekend i can drain the 6 year old gas and get it fired up. clean it up a little and have some cruise pics from a farm find car that has sat for years. luckily it was relatively mice free, it will be way easier to clean up.
to be continued...
(i keep adding to the main post, its going to take me a while to get this horror story typed out, hopefully someone gets a kick out of my misery, at least i managed to save a couple DSM's.
